Boy you 7.3 guys are all alike, only thinking of yourselves. Never mind the 6.9 guys, but then I don't need anything stamped on mine. Maybe some stickers.
Instead of sanding the stock plastic lenses a quick and easy way with excellent results is to use Mothers aluminum polish on them. Best results are obtained with a buffer, but you can still get amazing results by hand. Afterwards some 303 protectant will make it last for awhile. I have tried one...
I always liked the look of the engine with chrome covers. I think Banks did that on one of his display engines and it looked real good. Chrome isn't cheap and then all the hardware needs done too.
I have thought about cutting the stock box up to make access a lot better on things. Did you guys notice an improvement in any way with the remote filter setup? To me I could see the stock box as a huge heat sink that just preheated the intake air. I was going to use a canister style air cleaner...
The glowplugs are just to get things warmed up for starting. They won't have anything to do with a miss. The lift pump won't be the issue either as it would not just be the one cyl. acting up. I am probably not the person to say, but I would suspect an injector or a mechanical problem in that...
These were in an 86 F250 that was my dads truck. He installed them to pull a camper. I bought both and put the stock ratio back in after selling the camper. The truck has 90,000 on it now and I would guess these gears have about 50,000 miles on them. Pretty sure I have the box they came in from...
I looked around for a forum to post something for sale and didn't see anything. I don't recall seeing stuff put in here for sale and didn't want to if it wasn't appropriate.

I haven't changed the filter yet, but that was on the list. Filling the tanks seems to have gotten rid of the issue. I am fairly certain it is the fuel pump.

My truck has started acting up on me and I wanted to see what you guys thought. This usually occurs soon after startup and it really bugs me. The engine speed starts getting lower and lower until it dies. It doesn't start right back up, but sometimes it takes so long I wonder if it is going to...
I just ended up and got new neoprene ones as they called them at the parts store. Just looked like regular rubber ones to me. I didn't figure there were any available for the 6.9. but thought it might be worth asking. Thanks.
Jeff
I would like to get a set of the steel core valve cover gaskets for my 6.9. I really like the set on my 351 and was wondering if anyone makes them for the 6.9. I have been searching and haven't come up with anything. Anyone know if they are made and by whom and a part number by chance? Thanks...
I have seen quite a bit about using atf in the tanks as lubricant for the pump. I would like to know how much to put in each time I fill up. It surely wouldn't hurt having too much, but I want to make sure I have enough. Thanks.
Jeff
I have the banks with the BBB on top. I am thinking of putting an air filter on a length of pipe and was wondering if there would be any advantage to putting a silicone adapter at the turbo that would go up to a larger size pipe. Like 3" to 4". It would seem to me to let the turbo breath easier...
The ends of my sunvisors are drooping about 6 inches and they look really ridiculous. Does anyone else have this problem and if so have you and how did you fix it? I have looked for some clips to screw to the metal trim, but haven't found anything like I have pictured that would be clean...
I would recommend Nolands downtown for your heads, That is all they do and they are very good at it. Days automotive in Independence used to be a real good shop, but that was along time ago. Don't really know anymore. You might call the diesel shop up in St. Joe that does all the hipo work on...
Been in the area all my life and love to tinker with engines of any kind. Thanks to this site I've got the old girl running better than she ever has and I would like to do more.
Jeff
I would like to know what you find out about the rockers. I did some checking on custom roller rockers, but the cost was really high. I always kind of thought there was another application that would work on our motors.
Jeff
I would pull your blower motor and see how the core looks. It may be plugged up and no air getting through. I clean the one on my 86 yearly. All manor of leaves and such are in there, but never to the level where no air gets through.
Jeff
Well I have a little more info as to where the whistle comes from. I broke a shaft on the turbo on a series 60 Detroit about a week ago. The compressor wheel was the only thing affected and there was no turbo whistle after that, no power either. There was a little whistle that came off the...
