    Early Banks filter box alternative?

The banks box is a POS, scrap it. The filter is crap, and you can't work on your engine. I took an ATS intake hat for turbo outlet to intake mani, I reused the banks turbo inlet rubber boot 90, and shoved a 4inch steel pipe in it. Tight fit, might have boiled it. You can get a silicone 90 with...

    Manual Glow Plug Switch Issues

Maybe I'm crazy, but I believe I wired my relay unorthodoxly: Big hot post tied to the S post (switch/signal, it's what the controller would power), and ran a wire from the small ground post to a grounded switch in the cab. This WONT work for relays that don't have a small ground post...

click no start Glow plug controller

Put the key in ignition to run position. You can alternatively run a hot wire to the fss to avoid wiring harness issues. Learn to jump/trigger relays, or if you don't feel like it you can manually glow plug and crank starter with a screwdriver - use one you don't care about as the arcs will eat...

Wiring Conundrum(s) I. : Busted GPs and Tachometer

Glow plugs should only be used for 5-8 seconds depending on the brand. Some can go longer but not by much.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

Wasn't POR15 the popular choice years ago? Could probably use a foam roller too or was that mostly for the underbody? I like these single stage ideas though

    Fuel Filter Mystery

Rubber hose can collapse internally, if the filter media is clean and the lift pump doesn't do it try replacing the rubber. All else fails, probably the IP going out and the air intrusion from a filter job is messing with timing. I haven't read the thread in a while, it's all a guessing game...

U Joint Size? At Part Store Waiting!

Ujoints are all over the map on these trucks. I think I had to use a mixed sizer on my 44hd ttb, but maybe I'm misremembering now. The needle bearings were dust in a few of mine! Good save

    What new radiator to buy?

I get that if it's a plastic tanked radiator maybe, but if it's metal on metal it seems redundant to me. Grounding a grounded object. Take a wire from battery positive to your inframe rad if you think it isn't grounded already, you'll quickly see its grounded. Guess I'll have to do some research...

    What new radiator to buy?

Maybe I'm missing something, but why add a ground strap to the radiator? The frame, body all should be well grounded already... Rodney red use to be heavily recommended here if you had a fat wallet. Was 1000+++, otherwise junkyard, retrofit something else, or get those cheap ass aluminum guys...

Charging Glitch... I hate electrical Issues!

I hit a junkyard for my plugs, Amazon has tons of options on breakers or you can show this to your local parts store: 250A Circuit Breaker Fuse Audio System Inline Holder Resettable for Car Marine Trolling Motors Waterproof https://a.co/fD3dvJn Found the plugs too Wire Harness Connector ASI 2G...

Charging Glitch... I hate electrical Issues!

I don't remember the green wire but I likely abandoned it. Great post @catbird7 ! I also used a resettable breaker instead of a bus fuse but it's all good.

    Bucking on Deceleration

Does it do it while revving in neutral at all? If not, see above. If so, you have a fueling issue.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Could try an air compressor after you unhook both ends but it's probably the tank. That's my scenario, rust and crap galore.

Injector Pump Heat Soak or GP Controller?

How's the exhaust look? Exhaust tells a lot of stories. Exhaust at cold idle, warm idle, WOT, etc. It's not the glow plugs, that much is certain. It's probably the IP, but you could have other contributing factors too: weak compression, air intrusion, weak starter. Batteries/stock alt getting...

    Throttle cable "all years" true

One time I was in a pinch, I was hauling up a mountain pass and when I got to the other side took a break, got ready to leave and found the throttle wouldn't move and the pedal was STUCK. mind you I was in the middle of nowhere, so parts would have taken days, several hundred miles from any...

    Unconventional CDR Mounting Ideas

I just bolted mine to the ram air intake pipe going to the turbo inlet. Bearing gets some extra lube and the engine gets more fuel! Joking aside, I have a 4 inch steel tube going to the intake, then a piece of aluminum i cut at 45s to make a 90 bend into an ATS intake snail I bought here. The...

Charging Glitch... I hate electrical Issues!

I would heartily recommend swapping to a 3G alternator. You can jumper itself to itself so you only have to run one fat power cable to battery POS, then diagnosis becomes a lot easier versus chasing fuse links and old factory wires... the 130 amp alternator is common and a big leap forward over...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Dusting off the old account, I still lurk here just no real time to post... been fixing my old house I got right before covid in 2019. Tldr; I replaced the old group 31 Duracell battery+ batteries with Costco interstate group 31T batteries, got the truck fired up after sitting a year and found...

You can use a dowel or thinner bolt to gauge length too. I'm sure someone will chime in with pitch and length soon, plus it's probably only partially threaded an inch or so on the shank.

    Fuel Filter Mystery

I have a mesh pre-filter on my facet lift pump with clear bowl. The rear tank has rust and algae probably, or just algae. Going to drop it and swap to a bigger tank but it only takes a couple hundred miles TOPS before the fuel flow is cut too much and it starts surging before stalling. I've had...

    Fuel Filter Mystery

Mechanical lift pumps are very durable, but nothing is forever. Filters decrease PSI, moreover as they get dirty. A tired lift can go from borderline to less-than easily in that situation. Have you cut open a filter to see if there is crap in it? If not then it's definitely not a filter issue...
