Only those without one think they're junk. Truth is the contemporaries from the IDI era are now only rusted out tuna cans in the dump and the strokers have a secret longing for the simpler, saner IDI times. :sly
I just put a fresh Mitsubishi in mine that is a Planetary Gear Reduction (M8T50171). The OEM Offset Gear Reduction model (M3T90072) is discontinued. Tech Bulletin 856. Can't figure out what it sounds like when it spins but it is very fast.
Not sure if you fixed the problem but I just had the same thing happen and used a pick to pull the catch. Hopefully the pics show up but if not, and our latches are the same, the catch is 2" to the left of where the cable is retained and that is easy to feel. Hope it helps.
Still on the hunt. Does anyone know if LMC part #43-2865 will not work for my 350? It shows for a 250 but verifies diesel, radiator size and heavy duty cooling. Thanks in advance....
You're right. That should be in the tech section. Helpful for me to picture it too. I looked closer at it and thought it's shot but that thread makes me rethink it.
Got another hour before the parts store closes so if I don't hear back I'll probably go that route. If I'd had known this truck was going to be so stellar I would have built a warehouse and been "stockpiling" parts for almost twenty years now.
I'll look into that option, I don't know what the difference is so I can't visualize it. It broke on the one side and is cracked on the other at the support bushing. The driver side is a piece of loose metal around the bushing. Didn't check LMC, thanks. The one's I saw only shipped domestically...
I'm in QC not far from Maine. They aren't all over the place here Knuckledragger. The one part's guy said they weren't available from him and I'm waiting on a second to call back. Thanks Riotwarrior but the shipping might be a killer! The gasser ones are available but not diesel w/ AC. The...
First, wait until snow melts. Then in May  steering shaft u-joint, rad support bushings, track bar bushings, sway bar bushings, LS ball joints, rear drums and shoes, fuel tank pickup tube, bed body work and related, and on and on.
Thanks guys. I've had it before but for the life of me I can't remember why, fuel line leak maybe? Wasn't too bad to remove with a well placed floor jack and a few boards. I'm done traveling for a while and have it on the list. My tank is plastic so it's probably lighter than the steel ones. I...
You won't go wrong with that price and warranty. Mine got about 160,000 miles with no issues. Seems like I paid about that much a long time ago but they did give me the core which is now built and back in her. And yes, they do rebuild them with the upgrades.
That is a nice truck Russ. Let's see, buy a Gearvendors for half price and get a truck to go with it. Don't see bargains like that too often. Good luck with it. And if you get tired of all those gears, my trucks birthday's coming up.

Quite a spread and a rip off regardless. Long Island $4.59 - $4.79, NH $3.89, and I think Quebec was about 1.60/ltr. Unfortunately, $.99 will stay in my mind, until I lose it anyway.
