Truck is still sitting so not a lot of miles, but there was nothing about the water pump that would concern me from a longevity standpoint. I was very pleased with it.
Selling my 1991 F250. It is in partially running condition. The engine has been rebuilt but has a dead cylinder. It will start and run though and could be driven up on a trailer.
Note: The frame does have a crack developing behind the plastic fuel tank.
You can see the rebuild job in the 7.3...
100% agree.
Plus if the defects that made it through QC don't get reported back to the company (i.e. the filters mentioned in this thread) they aren't going to show up on any of their PPM metrics.
Sorry to derail this thread but i managed to dig up some pictures from 2007 (when i picked up the ranger). Pictures aren't great but oh well still fun to look at again.
Below is a picture of two of the Lincolns, and the engine compartment of the datsun.
Unfortunately that's going to be "had" for me now. Got rid of back March of this year.
Same guy i bought that ranger from also owned the following (at the time that i bought the ranger from him. they've all since gone on to new lives).
5 diesel Lincoln Mark VII's (Accumulated them as he robbed...
My truck will be going to the junkyard sometime soon. I have that part and if we can figure out how to ship it I can get it headed your way for the cost of shipping*.
Edit: *in addition to the cost of shipping i also would like some recommendations on places to visit in Finland :) I've been to...
Thanks for the responses guys.
I think I'll have to pick up a hobofreight tester so i can keep moving on this. I'm out of town for the month of January so can't order anything until after i get back.
Spent a little time on it yesterday. I'm trying to avoid pulling the truck back in the shop...
Yup originally there was a hose that went to the bottom of the radiator, but unless you are a purist in keeping everything original, its largely agreed that the hose can be eliminated without in detrimental effects.
Since your radiator doesn't have it, just eliminate that hose entirely.
Well folks...the plot thickens
Good news: Fuel pump came in, and i got it (hastily) installed.
Better news: That actually had (foreshadowing) the truck running significantly better. I noticed far less (nearly zero) bogging and the smoke was back to gray/black if i...
Thank you all for the responses and comments. I really appreciate it! I'm a little slow at times getting back to you since I've got a bunch of other things going on at the moment (as i'm sure most people are here do).
Anywho, on to the update.
Took the truck on a trip to pick up some steel...
Haven't thought about smelling the smoke. So i can't answer that. It was about 35 degrees (1.6 C) out when i took that video though.
Don't have a spare pump on hand.
Well as usual, despite taking a million pictures during this rebuild, i don't have a clear one of the pump gear meshed with the...
The RPMs will continue to climb a little if i'm just reving it like in the video. If i'm going down the road i don't really try and push it because more throttle just means more smoke and no real increase in speed or power. Kind of like it goes from bogging, to just bogging harder.
Pump and...
Ok here is another short update.
Been taking the truck on some short runs, probably have about 30 or 40 miles on it. If i keep it below 2000 rpms you wouldn't know anything was wrong with it. Something else i noticed is that when i just mash it and try and scoot, after that 2k mark when it...
That makes me feel a bit better. So maybe for starters i'll try and get some more run time on it keeping the RPM's moving around to keep that noise at bay, and we'll see if it clears up.
Probably has less than 5min of total run time on it since getting the motor dropped back in Saturday. So nothing is broken in yet. Lifters were installed in the motor April 24th though.
Good to hear from you Scott, hope all is well!
I was on the fence about installing new lifters. Decided "When in Rome" and put all new lifters in.
Now i just need to find the time to tear this all back apart...
That is exactly what it sounds like to me too. Exhaust doesn't change when it does it though. No smoke of any kind. Just that loud "chuffing" out of the intake.
ninja edit: so to answer your question. No it doesn't sound like a definite "miss" just a horrible chuff out of the intake.
Background (skip if you aren't interested): Some of you may have been following my rebuild thread over here. Didn't get any updates posted recently because i ended up kind of rushed on the last part of the build so i didn't get any pictures. Injector pump took longer to get than i expected. So...
