    Air ride conversion/frame stretch

Nope not your fault, you need a special tool the put those in, I hate them myself, I use a standard CR seal, put a block of wood across it, and WHACK, thats all there is to it. Check that the breather is clear, a plugged up breather will puke a seal in a hurry.

how much is a detroit worth??

They are pretty much an antique engine, haven't been used in anything in over 10 years, and even back in the day they were nothing to brag about. Basically you will have to find that one person who is looking for one. Dollar amount would be pretty low

New Haul and Tow RV transporter build

EXCELLENT! Looks real good, bet its a pleasure to operate compared to the Ford. Although my KW is not as tall inside as the Freightliner it's plenty comfortable, I KNOW you will be much more comfortable, both driving and resting. Seen a guy with a white T600 KW set up almost the same way on...

New Haul and Tow RV transporter build

Just curious, whats the bumper to bumper length? And the length from the back of sleeper to the tail end. Seeing it out of the shop, it doesn't look quite as long as the Ford,.......... at least from here....... Looks real good, should really do the job nicely.

New Haul and Tow RV transporter build

Some pretty interesting specs on that truck, small engine, ultra light, tag axle, what kind of fleet did it come out of? What was it used for? Being from "up north" the only thing that bugs me is the aluminum frame, they usually don't stand up to the winter time "mixture" that they use up...

    379 Pete daycab weight

Just a gutted cab? My guess would be under 1000 pounds,or right around there, it is all aluminum including the doors, and floors. Call the local Pete dealer, the parts guy should be able to give you an exact figure.

Has to be more than 70% of the diodes out, CHP told me, I have l.e.d.s with 9 diodes and had one light with 3 out, and they said it was right on the borderline, I popped in a spare as kind of a brown nose gesture hoping they would see me a dilligent, safety concious truck driver............it...

Cummins Big Cam 400 - intermittently dies?

There is a thumb screw on the pump to put it on "manual" this bypasses the solenoid, the truck will NOT shut off this way, you will have to stall it using the clutch. But this would tell you if it is the solenoid or not. It could also be the fuel lines, after so many years they start to...

Caterpillar vs. Interstate batteries. 2 yr life?

Thats why after 3 winters, I change them, a road call to start my KW will cost more than the 4 batteries easily. Plus I change them in Sept, before the 4th winter, and before the cold weather;Sweet

Caterpillar vs. Interstate batteries. 2 yr life?

There are only about 2 or 3 battery manufacturers left in this country, so most batteries are just different labels, and pretty much the same. I replace mine every 3 winters, never have any problems that way

My new L8000 dumper, any suggestions?

Most Fords had unique features on the engines, both Cummins Detroit, and Cat, because of the cab/frame configuration, if you look at an L9000 road tractor, you will see that the engine is slanted to one side, requiring a whole lot of special pieces, different fan hubs, oil pans, and alternator...

Anyone using a Turbo 3000D Vada?

Sad but some of these guys either don't know how to figure their MPG or don't want to say they bought something that doesnt work. I had a fuel preporator on my KW, didn't do a dam thing but buzz in the radio when I had it on AM. In defense of the preporator, the manufacturer didn't make...

    Semi Purchase

Then you better stay with the pickup, a class 8 which is what that Mack is will NEVER get 12 let alone 14, of course it will out pull the pickup but it will not be as comfortable as the pickup either.
