    Ahh ok, I was told by a few people that both the 6.9/7.3 and the 9.0 are conversion motors. You would think they would have done many things differently.

    The IDI is a gas conversion diesel so many of your internals will look like BB gas stuff. You may want to cut the connecting rods if it means you can salvage the block and crank.

    Cummins for sure. I have done the tuned IDI thing and the IDI thing has cost me LOTS of $$$$ and many long nights. I gave up on the IDI in the S-1600 after two wrist pin failures within a year.

    How will this swap give you a 500 rpm reduction? I know the 545 lacks a locking converter but you should not see more than 100 rpm of slip at that kind of rpm.

    Exactly what I was thinkin. You could install a PTO driven pump onto your 5spd. I have a 1 year old Chelsea PTO that was just taken off my S-1600:D More work and cost but a MUCH better and faster system.

    Klitcheil is correct about the gov solenoid being the issue. It is possible to pull the valve/solenoid apart and clean it but you might as well just buy a new one or go with the part that was posted above. Suncoast, PATC, and a few others sell the GM solenoid conversion kit.

    Under drive! LOL No joke, 1.17:1 5th ratio. I have never found any factory option of under drive on 5th so I figure a rebuilder must have done it some how. Should make for a tough to sell trans.
