    Started my DT360 swap yesterday

I pulled the plug on this money/time pit last spring. Been sitting in yard ever since. Lately Ispend a little time on when it is nice out in preparation to pull the 360/5 speed combo in an effort to sell it.

What I will use is an adjustable flow divider from surplus center. The primary circuit gets priority flow and whatever is left goes to the secondary circuit. Cost about $90 as I recall. I used the same divider on my 302 powered wheel loader. The steering gets priority and lift hydraulics get...

Sorry for no progress reports for so long. I dont get sat down at a normal computer much anymore, and I am not going to type out lengthy stuff on a smartphone, and my memory on some of this might be off a bit now. So the puller guy at work that I have mentioned before got me a few springs to...

    91 dt360 - 88 for 250 can it be done?

Check out my thread. I used a Spicer 3053A from a 2.5 ton 6x6 army truck. Wasnt really a bolt on affair, but easier and cheaper than doing a ZF adapter. http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?56069-Started-my-DT360-swap-yesterday&highlight=dt360

Update Chatted with the truck pulling guy at work about the excessive black smoke in the lower RPM's. He said that I needed to adjust the fuel rate in the rearmost part of the pump. Basically it is overfueling it before the turbo is doing its thing. We talked about how to do that and I...

I am not convinced of the HX45 being a good choice for me. The puller guy here at work told me that they are known to shear the shaft because it is too small to take the stress when the turbo decellerates. too much mass in the turbine and compressor for the small shaft to handle. Manual...

Yeah, this is getting really disappointing so far for the effort and money I have put into it. I am ALMOST ready to concede that a Cummins would have been better(but still overdone) On another note, it seems like this engine just runs up to a certain RPM and just hits a wall. Not shure what...

    Started my DT360 swap yesterday

I finally brought the truck home from the shop a couple of weeks ago. The shop ownwer was a nice guy and we chatted about my truck for a good bit. They moved my pyrometer sensor to the downstream side of the turbo. Apparently the exhaust was not running as hot as I had thought. I had the...

I had read somewhere that ag front dress items took up less room, but ag junkyards around here are plentiful, but expensive, so I did not pursue that option. Too late for my swap, but just out of curiosity, how much difference do the ag parts make?? Probably the biggest difference between you...

yes, that is exactly what the problem was. too much resistance in the SINGLE return line. I had the return for the hydroboost T'd into the return for the steering box right down by the steering box. then it flows through a filter mounted on the bottom side of my ranch hand bumper and through a...

She mentioned that my truck wasnt showing any hours recorded on the computer records yet, so that means there isnt a bunch of labor hours put into it(yet). Was told that the foreman was pretty confident it would be done by the 4th. I am thinking that means one of two things 1-They have...

What do you mean by turbo spinning free?? Engine was really dead at lower RPM's. Seemed to come alive(relatively) at higher RPM's. Could get it in the mid to upper 20's for boost. Dont know what RPM, no functioning tach yet. A little black smoke at tailpipe when putting it to the floor, but...

Update. Lets see if I can remember everything. Bought new copper washers to seal injectors/combustion chambers. Some of them still leaked, so I coated them with Copperseal, or whatever that stuff is called. Only had one just barely seeping after that. Haled it to the exhaust shop and got that...

IT LIVES!!! Finally got the injectors back yesterday, and with a few hitchedto be expected anymore with this project, finally firedit up earlier this afternoon. Good oil pressure, and nonasty noises from inside the engine that I can hear. A couple of the injectors are leaking compression...

Yeah, I am still hackin away on this. Not getting much done it seems. EVERY LITTLE THING goes wrong for me, sometimes more than once. Had trouble with-- Hydraulic clutch system hydroboost lines oil lines for turbo tach wheel driveshaft etc etc etc Its not that this swap is really harder...

Did some measuring on the balancer, it is 11.25 in outer diameter. That means I will get the 60 series 54 tooth sprocket that is showing 13.something diameter. Not shure how I will mount it to the balancer yet, but I have a couple of ideas. Getting it pretty well centered will be the real...

ocnorb- I am not shure how that really matters though?? Besides that, your math is wrong, I believe-I am getting a tooth(signal)every 3.39 degrees of rotation with the stock 106 tooth gear. With a 54 tooth sprocket, I come up with a signal every 6.66 degrees of rotation. Big difference is...

Not at all saying you are wrong, buy why would the sensor care if there was a gap?? Seems to me it would just read it as the engine speed slowing down for a millisecond. Yes, the sensor originally reads the teeth on the gear of the IP.

Was just looking at sprockets over at the Surplus Center website. They carry from 40 to 80 sizes, but nothing in 53 tooth. 52 or 54. I dont know how far off one tooth would throw off the tach reading, or could get a 54 and grind one tooth off- might make the tach have a slight hiccup at idle...

Oddly enough, I just had that roller chain sprocket idea earlier today while at the scrapyard waiting for the loader to clear my trailer off. There was some kind of gearmotor laying on the ground nearby with a sprocket on it. It only had 40some teeth on it, but it was pretty big diameter. I...

It is revolting how little I seem to have accomplished lately!!! Sent out the injectors to a guy that specializes in rebuilding them for sled pullers. Guy at work that is pretty heavy into pulling hooked me up with him. Finally decided where to position my turbo, and spent a good amount of...

The slave cylinder came from sperdway motors. I dont know how to transfer a link on this smartphone. Part #91025605. 7/8 bore, and 1.2 inches of throw. Meant for 11 or 12 inch clutches, so I have no idea how well its going to work for my application
