6.0 boost pressures
My fat F550 (16,000lb all day every day) will put the gage to 30lbs going up a mountain. Thats the highest I have ever seen it go. Ken- NJKen

fuel milage question
Youre doing better than me. I have an 06 F550 that will not get any better than 9.5 no matter what I do. It has 5.88 gears and weighs in at 15,000 lbs though. Ken- NJKen

smoking knocking
A bad injector could do that. So could a bent rod. Is the truck loosing antifreeze? could be a blown egr cooler. If that is it and it has been ignored it could be the beginning of cascading 6.0 failure (and that is worse than it sounds). If your not loosing any coolant or gaining any oil it...- NJKen

Coolant Mixing
The oil coolers on these engines will clog for no dam reason at all. I would imagine that mixing coolants could not possibly help that at all. Just my $.02 Ken- NJKen

Odd Running Question
Thats a good description of a fuel injector on its way out. A cylinder contribution test can point you to the offending injector. Replacing them isnt too hard but they are expensive. Good Luck Ken- NJKen

Fuel Filter Warning!!!
Had water go rite through a Wix filter and eat up a few injectors once. When I pulled it out is was soggy and felt like wet cardboard. The water in fuel light didnt even come on. Maybe because the filter absorbed and passed the water? dunno.. I will only get them from Ford now. It cost me...- NJKen

Mysterious antifreeze/coolant leak
One of em is cheap and easy to fix. The other one is cheap and a giant pain in the butt to fix. Still a good place to start looking though. Ken- NJKen

I sometimes get fed up.
If you think its bad with IDI's, try 6.0's! Or, worse yet,... Harleys, or even worse yet Guns! Seriously, you cant help everyone and no mater where you go you will find "that one" that you are referring to! I have been around this forum since the forddiesel days and "that one's" come and go...- NJKen

EGR delete or not?
That looks like a nice kit. It even comes with the STC fitting repair kit. Thats another job you really should do while the whole top of the motor is off. If you get that kit you need nothing else but time, patience and fluids. Ken- NJKen

You really really REALLY should change the cooler at the same time. The stock oil cooler is usually responsible for stock EGR cooler failure. The coolant goes through the oil cooler to get to the EGR cooler. When the oil cooler starts to clog up it starves the EGR cooler of antrifreeze. The...- NJKen

I put a bulletproof cooler on my truck and they are kinda pricy. They do guarantee that it will not fail again for life though. Its night and day different than the stock one is. Another test you can do is park the truck with the back higher than the front (back up a hill). Pull the EGR valve out and let it sit. If thee is any antifreeze in there after a little bit you have a blown EGR cooler. Ken- NJKen

STOP DRIVING IT! It is most likely a blown EGR cooler. You need to consider changing the EGR cooler and oil cooler now. I just went through this with my 06. If youre going to repair it I highly recomend either deleting the EGR cooler altogether or using a bulletproof diesel or Sinister...- NJKen

Oil in antifreeze? Headgasket or oil cooler??
most likely a blown oil cooler. The miss is what concerns me more. If theres oil in the antifreeze than most likely there is some antfreeze in the oil. That will kill an injector. That is exactly what happened to my truck just a couple of weeks ago. Its a bitch to fix and there will be many...- NJKen

I would just dilute it with regular diesel as soon as the tank is down some. I dont think you put enough in there to hurt it. The best way to hurt a 6.0 injector is water, run out of diesel, or contaminated oil. Ken- NJKen

One more forgot to mention... Bulletproof does offer the round bodied EGR cooler that are present on the 03 and 04 6.0 instead of forcing you to use a square one like some others do. I really am not sure how hard it is to interchange the two but I do know its always easier to put in what came...- NJKen

Forgot to mention... I have a Sinister Diesel coolant filter kit on order for $139 from Extreme diesel. I cant find it on their site for some reason. I just walked into their very expensive toybox like showroom and ordered it since they are not far from me. You can see it here on someone...- NJKen

The EGR cooler still lives in the valley but it is designed not to fail. If you ever get one of these things in your hand you can see that it wont fail even without antifreeze in it at all. It has a lifetime waranty also. I did not want to do a total delete because I didnt want to put any...- NJKen
