Looks like the E40D will work provided I can get the aftermarket controller to make it work and it looks like I can get both for less money then the cost of a Gear Vendors.
Thank you.
I didn't know an aftermarket controller was available. Where can I learn more about them? I did a Google search and found Baumann Electric Controls but haven't found anything working with diesel engines just carburated gas engines with an aftermarket Throttle Position Sensor.
From what I...
I am constantly hauling stuff in my E350 which is why I got it in the first place. The reason I gave the transmission credit for the economy was keeping the engine rpms down. Thinking if I kept my rpms down I would get better mileage. As for towing, I do have a 28foot travel trailer that...
I just saw an 84 Chevy Van for sale with a 6.2 that gets 25mpg on the highway consistently. After checking it out more I learned it has the 700R4 transmission behind the 6.2 with a lock up torque converter. I was amazed how quiet it was.
Needless to say I've been second guessing my 84 6.9...
I just learned that the turbo I was considering sold yesterday so I don't need to worry about fitting a turbo in there. Thanks for your response.

I have an opportunity to pick up an ATS Turbo kit out of a truck. Will it fit my van? Is there anything I should look for when I check out the kit? Any concerns about putting it on my NA engine? Just am not interested in a good deal costing me more later.
Didn't think about the tires nor the brake work. Looks like I need to start saving for a GV because after the new IP and Injectors I can't imagine driving anything else. But wouldn't complain about better mileage. But 15 MPG is better then 9 in a gas van.
The new Injection pump and injectors are in but the MPG's are still around 15. What I was thinking was the possibility of putting in a 2 speed rear end one option for towing the other for mileage. I did a search but didn't see anything. Has this been done? Any thoughts on putting a split or...
It just took about 1/8th an inch and it feels like it did before the pump change. But I agree, I need to have it professionally set and will do that next week.
By chance do you have a suggestion for the position of the VRV? I don't have a vacuum meter and when I took the VRV off the old IP and placed it on the new one I tried to match position as close as I can. But the trans shifts very hard and takes quite a bit of rpms to make the shift.

Well, I ended up with both1 and 4 going over the main fuel line but everything seems to fit nicely. Before attempting to start I filled the fuel filter with ATF, pulled the glow plug power and started cranking. After a few cranks I started to see ATF at a few of the injectors so...
I still can't get #4 figured out. It seems to either be too high or too low compared to the other lines. I may just try to put it together loose and then tighten everything up. Is there a way to tighten the lines after they have been mated to the injector?
I was going to use the newer fuel lines that came with my rebuilt pump but then changed my mind and wanted to use my old ones as they are for a van and the newer ones are from a truck with the fuel filter on the other side. Needless to say I've been one grumpy gus trying to work this out.
I guess I didn't communicate my question right. I do have the firing order but am having a hard time with the maze of metal hoses and getting them to fit within the puzzle so the ends are where they need to be. Especially lines 1 and 4.
In the pictures you might be able to see what I mean.
Ok, I have the new injectors in and am now attaching the fuel lines to the Injector Pump but cannot seem to get them arranged properly to fit back into the holders. Does anyone have a pic of the IP that shows the fuel lines attached so I can copy it? I a picture of the timing and how to do...
