    Leaking return caps

Ok, thanks for the info. Yeah, I tried using the braided line and it leaked right off the bat. I switched to rubber hose and it's been fine but like I mentioned, all the caps are leaking. I'll see about getting the Viton O rings for it and tear into it.

    Leaking return caps

Good morning all. Just curios if anyone is having return line issues and how long you're getting out of a set of O rings. I replaced my return line system 4 years ago along with my injection pump and injectors, that was at 164,000 miles. I now have 202,000 miles and every return cap is *******...

    Bus clutch adjust

Sorry guys, I know this isn’t a bus forum but thought you guys might be able to help. I just bought a 1987 crown school bus with a 671 Detroit turbo and spicer non synchro 5 speed. Drove it home to Vegas from Cali last weekend and it ran great. I know zero about clutches and adjusting but the...

    7.3 running hot

I really miss my old 6.9. I had just recently replaced the 7.3 in my 89 with a 6.9 out of my other truck with fresh head gaskets and ARP head studs and some A hole plowed into the back of me. That truck never ran hot after I ditched the 7.3 out of it. When towing last summer, the temp hit 255...

What do we use to block off the bypass?

    7.3 running hot

Heres my two cents. With the amount of airflow the fan pulls, I feel like more circulation through the radiator wont hurt a bit. I think the thermostat in these is pretty restrictive. I would never run any engine in cool or cold weather without a thermostat but I see no problem with trying it...

    7.3 running hot

I can reach in and pop the spring out of its slot on the front of the fan clutch. It screams pretty loud going down the road, so I know its locked in good. I tow with the o/d shut off and if I do hit a really steep hill, I'll pull the lever down and keep the rpm's up

    7.3 running hot

Might fool with the kit again but I'll have to find an intake hat. Seems like I saw a company on the net selling them, similar to the one that Russ makes and sells on here. The dealer I bought the trailer from said the trailer was rated for 1/2 ton truck but now that I've watched a few youtube...

    7.3 running hot

Interesting. I know we all fight for bigger radiators and roaring big fans but what about water flow? I mean, we can have all the size and air we want but if were not moving enough liquid through it, its pointless. I've thought about removing the stat and trying it, or at least modifying one to...

    7.3 running hot

Very good info, thank you. I've often thought about the misting system. I could throw a tank in the bed and use and rv pump for water supply. Be nice if it was wired with some components to be temp controlled.

    7.3 running hot

We have a member here in vegas with a timing meter. Been a few years since I've talked to him. Been fairly spot on between my ear and timing devices within one or two degrees in the past but may have just been luck and not my ocd autism issues lol. I will definitely check into a/c issues. I do...

    7.3 running hot

Yes, fan shroud is in place. everything is spotless clean. Nothing blocking the front. factory grill still in place. I did have a temp gauge in place of the overheat switch, plus I left the factory gauge hooked up also so I could see what factory reads as opposed to real numbers.

    7.3 running hot

Not gonna lie. The company I bought this trailer from, said its towable with a 1/2 ton truck and I was considering buying one to eliminate all this overheating headache but from what I've read lately, most say its too sketchy to use that size truck for such a big trailer.

    7.3 running hot

Not sure what the timing is right now but I know its more towards the slightly mild end. I tried running more advanced with no difference in towing temps. I've got the fuel set for the egt gauge to max at 900 on a grade. I have noticed a huge difference in towing temps between 100 degrees...

    7.3 running hot

I have the radiator trans cooler bypassed at the moment and I'm running a large external cooler. Funny how the 6.9 runs so much cooler with the rear cooling ports. I dont know what they were thinking when they changed that design, it really made a hellava difference in cooling. Before my last...

    7.3 running hot

I've had the timing all over the place and right now, its at its happiest spot for running and engine temps. temps. I also turned the fuel down to a normal everyday level. Takes the fun out of hot rodding but as you know, cant tow like that.

    7.3 running hot

Hi all. Been a while since I've posted but have run into an issue that I cant seem to conquer. My 93 in my sig, has had everything cooling system replaced over the last 4 years but I still cannot haul our travel trailer in hot weather here. I have a newer motorcraft water pump, second motorcraft...

    Pump cores

hey all. I have 4 or 5 injection pumps sitting out in my shed and curios if someone can tell me what they're worth and if anyone would be interested in them. I also have a hypermax intercooler style intake hat and some piping also that I'm not going to be using. Thanks

    Fast idle struck on

With the engine hot, I unplugged the solenoid and the idle went back to normal. I also can hear the timing advance is engaged also and it smokes more when getting on it, so that is unplugged also. If I plug both back in and pull the connector off the thermal switch, the idle drops and the...

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the part numbers. I finally had a chance to fix the leak and the switch is still acting up, so I'll be ordering one.

Ok. Thank you for the info! I'm sure you guys are right, something is just coolant logged. I'll check back if I need more help.

    Fast idle struck on

Ok, so I just opened the hood and discovered I have a slight coolant leak where the upper hose is connected to the stat housing. Is that the sending unit for the fast idle and timing advance that sits below that? If so, it’s got antifreeze pooled around it. So now I guess can someone tell me...

    Fast idle struck on

The fast idle solenoid and timing advance wire is energized when the truck is hot. I just need to know what and where to check.

    Fast idle struck on

Hi all. So yesterday I was driving my truck, totally warmed up and my fast idle and timing advance turned back on. I always had heard that the sensor for these usually just quits working but mine seems to have the opposite attitude. Can I get a little insight on how to test that switch and what...
