I got one for an E350 like what's in the tech article.

I know the computer controlled "6G" won't work on anything at all without a newer brain box.
I ran a 6 g with no issues, took it off because I had to machine the alt case to get the pulley lined up. Makes it tough to replace on road.

Anyway, make sure the stator plug is fully seated. I had this same issue. The terminal pushes back up the shell

After your last warning, that's the first thing I did when the stator plug arrived and I swapped it out in place of the female spade connector I was previously using.

Video is up. I'm not sure, but I messed with it earlier (started and revved to about 2K to initiate the voltage spiking) and couldn't find anything obvious. It stopped after playing with the regulator plug. I'll see what it does tomorrow on the way to work. Maybe it just rattled the plug loose some?

Seems like the regulator harness was indeed the issue. Guess it had vibrated loose just enough. All good now!
