I figured some of you would see the humor in this.

I have a camping trip coming up and I really, really need a set of tow mirrors. I'm going to put on a set of powered Chevy tow mirrors when I can figure out a way to do it without ruining the paint on my door. I was tempted to run a set of West Coast Jr.s, but I am loath to drill anymore holes than the PO already put in the doors. So I have this brand new JD2 Model 3 staring at me in the shop, and I tried to employ it using the existing holes in the door.

It's sad there aren't more choices for these trucks.

I'll throw some flat black on it to keep it from rusting. It uses a 7x10 from Oreilly's. Maybe I should paint confederate flags on the backs of the mirrors?

That'll do the trick! Doesn't look half bad I don't think.
At least you have a use for them unlike those tank top flip flop cummins owners who just love their 10ft side mirrors with nothing hooked up to the receiver hitch but a chrome pair of dangling testicles.

That's a good one.LOL

I see this very often. There lucky I don't drive my deuce all the time, the 1/4" thick bumper won't be bothered by them.

Not too bad. Aesthetics aside that appears to be a very nicely made mount! Could have been really sweet if you made it telescoping!

Edit: Ok I'm an idiot, you DID! Nice job!

I like the heck out of them! Pretty sharp looking IMO. Good job! How much for a set?

Do they vibrate?

This was the route I was going to go at first. But I was worried about vibration using that Ford hoop bracket and that big mirror hanging off of it. I have had those hoop brackets on my truck with the little mirrors since I bought it 3 years ago. Those stupid mirrors vibrate like a high priced gadgets from an adult toy store.

Not that I'd know about that ^^^^ in particular.... , but we have swing-away mirrors on two of our trucks, an no vibration issues.

I have the factory ones and have no vibration. I have seen aftermarket ones and almost all of them have vibration issues.

I like the idea of the op's mirrors. The only drawback I see is it looks like the top mount doesn't move. I do a bit of backwoods driving and they would get torn off if I had solid mounts. But that is a neat idea with the telescoping. :Thumbs Up

Pretty smooth with steel on steel...figured I could try some rubber washers if it goes south.

Thanks! I think you have me beat there. :) I actually went down this path mentally as well before deciding to just make my own. For me, getting rid of the metal hoop was the goal.

I notice that your top bracket looks to be solid? Mine is a hinge; just like a friggin door hinge. That's part of the vibe problem. The rest is in the mirrors themselves. The bottom bracket is solid. So I just reused it.
