So I got big red out of the garage for her maiden voyage. It was moderately successful but, the brakes need work for sure and suddenly I have no fuel pressure. It was carrying about 9 psi before. Now suddenly barely moves the needle. Pump is running. It's possible the pump is bad but it's got less than hour of run time on it so I kinda doubt it. Blockage??

She's been sitting for a few years.Did the lines and tanks get a cleaning or replacement?

People have witnessed Motorcraft/Beru glow plugs swell up too.It can and does happen.Because there is a small chance of this happening to Beru's,doesn't mean we shouldn't buy their GP's.It's all about the failure rate %. There's a lot of us here just on this website with a combined well over a couple million miles on our pumps I'm sure.

Eliminate the issue from tank to pump, then pump to the gauge, then to the ip.
Somewhere it will surface.
My carrier has been fine.

All new lines and tanks. I'm getting air at the schrader valve. I pulled the line going to the filter and dumped it in a can. It's like foamy. I was only seeing like 3 psi at the filter head. I've swapped lines and tried pulling from a can. Same problem. Since screwing with things it's up to like 4-5 psi at idle. I'm hunting my pictures to see how much fuel pressure I had.

I guess next will be toss a different fuel pump in. I have a cheapie.

I think he is actually talking about the Facet/Carrier fuel pump. If I remember correctly, he was originally running a Holley Red, then following everything posted on here, he purchased and installed a Facet/Carrier fuel pump. The new pump failed in short order. Now he is running, I believe, a Holley Black, with a regulator......

He does use Beru plugs, like the rest of us do......

Anybody tell me what your facet pump makes for pressure at the filter head? It's carrying a pretty constant 3-4. I checked my earlier videos and it was more like 8. Engine sounds different. Like it's advanced the timing. Sounds like it's got fuel knock now. I'm not happy with what I have going on here.

Yeah. It's just an analogy. If because someone saw a low failure rate item like a Beru plug fail in the common way other brands do (swell up),doesn't mean Beru plugs are still not the best plugs to use.Because they most often last a long time and don't often (very rarely) ever swell up and get stuck in the head when they eventually do burn out.

Sometimes the duralift pumps people get are duds and they go bad quickly or are bad out of the box, doesn't mean they are not the best pumps to use. It's all about the % in failure rates. No item has a 0% failure rate.I guess what I mean is,because he remained "zoomed in" and only looked at the one that failed on him, rather than "zoomed out" and looked at the whole picture, that is,a large number of us using them for combined millions of miles issue free,it might of been wisest to try another one.:D

Anywho, sorry for the side track.:D I don't have anything else to add other than to make sure the fittings used are of good quality and that thread sealant is used and of course a double inspection of the hose, during the pull through a jug test.
Maybe also checking the return line, and unhooking it at the engine and running it back to the jug as well.Narrow the fuel circuit right down quick.

So I may have found it. This is what my fuel looked like.

I think it was the fitting going into the pump itself. It was spewing foam out the filter head. Now I have solid fuel out the schrader and it sits steady at 4 ish psi. It doesn't float like it was. We shall see.

Last I heard mel said over say 8-9 psi the db2 looses the advance curve.
3-4 i think is normal...

Mine stays between 6 and 7 at most all driving ranges except wot on steep grades. [Far left gauge]. Then i get about 4. Still better then the 2 I got with the old mechanical pump.

I believe mine is a 40922? Facet.

Sucking air at one of the new ( replaced) fittings.
Mel did post (here) a summary on timing for advance, and input psi.

Oh yeah, look at that.Right full of air. That's cool it was just a fitting.Easy fixes are always nice.Good pressure now.More than the oem lift pump, like stated.

I have the same results as Brian. 7psi normally, about 4psi at WOT with the 40222 (I think). The gauge I mounted on the pump output bounces around 6psi or so at idle (it sweeps/bounces 2psi with every pulse).
