Okay so driving to work my truck started surging, I barely make it and park and it starts idling really rough. Switch to the back tank thinking I might be low on fuel and it doesn't help idles really rough shakes bad for a few seconds and dies. Try to turn it back on and nothing happens. Turns over fine but won't start. Where do I start?

Maybe check engine oil to see if fuel is in there. Could be lift pump went out

How do you check the filter head? I did a little reading and I thought maybe the fuel pickup tube was bad in the tank. I'll check the oil right now.

Press on the schrader valve on top of the fuel filter while you crank. Fuel should squirt out for every turn

Okay I'm pretty sure I have air in the system. How do I bleed it?

Okay guys got it running. I'll probably change the pickups in the tanks tomorrow.

Anyone know what this sensor is?

I think you're asking about the scrader valve. It's on the side/top of the fuel filter housing. It is, for all intence and purposes, an air valve, just like the ones on your tires. You bleed it by pushing the little center pin in, just like letting air out of a tire. Of course, the engine must be cranking and the fuel pump pressurizing the filter, in order for it to bleed air from the filter. When you get steady fuel coming out that would mean there is no more air.

too bad. you're seven hours driving away.
i'd drop by and give you a few pointers if you were in the SFBA.

Your awesome Towcat. This forum and its members are amazing. I don't know any other place I can ask a question and I get so much help and not ridiculed one bit.
I also have to thank IDIoit he's always there to answer my questions when I text him.
