not for the average bear.
this is for the ranchero project.
mini PS pump mounted off the top bolt where the grounds mount in stock location.
standard gear box
SD+ hydroboost
remote PS reservoir.

PSP has a -6 AN in.
-10 AN return

hydroboost has been adapted to -6AN on both pressure ports.
still need to convert the banjo bolt return to AN, should be NPT?

feed and return on the gear box are also AN

now heres my issue.
I need to dump 3 return lines into the reservoir

kind of worried about the box and the PS return climbing almost 2 feet.

and a 4 way connector to the res.

but the pressure should make it go where I want?

I will be having both pressure lines professionally made, but I can do the return lines in home made AN stuff.

weigh in if you see something I missed/suggestions

I just used rubber fuel line and hose clamps for my return setup(I actually didn't have even hose clamps on several junctions for a few months).
Remember: 0 PSI. You just need to use hose that will handle the Type F ATF.

Also, I'd definitely suggest installing a return line filter. Autozone sold me mine for like $9.99, it's a universal filter.

I can only run less than 12" of rubber "fuel line" per NHRA standards.

The returns will climb 2' without issue - the pressurized fluid flowing behind will make sure of that. I had '92 GMC 3500 van with the reservoir up high just under the hood/windshield with hydroboost - no issues. I'd make the reservoir with three return ports as I have heard issue with trying to return through the same port - what issues I don't recall only that it's a bad idea. I'm sure there is a reason that Ford and GM had separate ports on their reservoirs instead of an in-line tee...

Ok if you can only have 12" of rubber fuel line, just run rubber transmission line instead. Maybe it would skirt the rules?

The push Lock hose is pretty good, and looks clean.

Most of the Fords have long return line to the reservoir. For example a 2006 F-150. The pump is low towards the frame and the res is up on the fender.

I would make each return line seperat to the res.

I had looked into using the trans cooler loop in the radiator but o think it was bikemaker who warned me that he had tried that and it wouldn't return. I don't know if that's because the tubing is too small in the core or if it runs too high up in the core but he said he tried it and it wouldn't work. For that reason I would be slightly wary of height. Maybe a manifold block somewhere lower to collect the AN lines with the resovoir up higher? You would need a line from the cooler, line from the hb return, suction line to the pump and then line to your resovoir?

You should be ok on height. On the 6.0's the power steering pump, is in almost the same place you have yours, low on the drivers side. The res for the pump is mounted right nest to the master cylinder/hydroboost on the to top of the drivers inner fender.......

i think the reason the transmision cooler won't work is flow. It doesn't flow enough fluid to work, causes a restriction in the system. I think a Power steering system moves much more fluid than a transmission does.......

a PS pump I would say produces more pressure.
if it didn't , then every chitty hose clamp'd trans cooler connectors would leak

You are correct. Tube and fin type coolers are recommended for power steering applications.

Height no issue, Maybe USCG approved push loc will satisfy the rules.
The reason the OEM resivoir has 2 returns is that with a TEE if you hammer the hydroboost you can get a return surge that will, for lack of a better term, chatter the steering box valve and you can feel it.

now that weve established that each return needs its own spot into the reservoir,
the next question is....

which return should be located where?

the box, and the hydroboost on the same level?
should the hydroboost be higher than the gear box?

I don't know if it matters but of course on the c2 pump the booster dumps above the fluid level. I don't know if the booster is bad about foaming but that's the only reason I can see going in from the top would make a difference. Being trans fluid I doubt it foams. I think the only reason a T can be a problem is stacking up flow from both at the same time.

Oh. I get it now. You are running remote reservoir so the third return would be internal to the pump normally? You've got all that inner fender to mount to, can you find a resovior that would let you dump the HB through the cap and mount it down close to the pump?

Oh hell ignore me, I haven't had any caffeine yet this morning.
