Hiya, fellas.

Been seriously distracted by another (very different) project vehicle lately.. My van has dealt well with the 1-hour trip to that vehicle, until the alt light has been showing up lately.

OK, cheap alternator.... my bad. Installed a Delco reman from Rock Auto today. Wrong, shallow pulley?

Can I just take this to an alternator shop, and have them switch pulleys? (New one works fine at idle, as I did use it to move the van) Don't even see how to hold onto the pulley, so the nut can come off.

Yep, still a newbie, after the last 7 years of owning this thing! <facepalm>

Head hurts....

I don't understand the problem. Not enough adjustment on the slide? That looks like the alt on my truck. I didn't have any problem with the belt. If I'm in left field ignore me.

Well, heck, that was shockingly easy. After all the pulleys I've worked with over the years, this was the easiest one!

I expected an interference fit needing a puller, keyway, and the usual stuff.

Nah, knocked off the old one in about 1 second. Have to unmount the new alternator to make the swap, but.... thanks, gentlemen.

Laserjock: the pulley that came with the alternator has a narrower groove, so the belt didn't seat properly. Will post pic comparing the two tomorrow.

Yep, pulley on left came on the reman alternator. Pulley on right on old alternator. Note wider groove, that fits belt properly.
