I've done some research, but wondered if anyone here had the knowledge of hardware differences between the C5 Sterling 10.25" 4.10 limited slip SRW axle and the F5 Sterling 10.25" 4.10 limited slip DRW axle, besides the obvious number of wheels. Brake drums, axles, etc.......

the dually wheel rear axle will boltin to a single wheel truck but you might have a little trouble with the outer dual. housing is a lot wider, bearings are bigger , axle shafts are longer , drums are 12.125x 3.5 .
hubface to hub face is 6-8" wider .

ring and pinion and posi carrier might be the same.

The '87 Centurion Conversion 4X4 dually truck has the C5, cut out wheel wells to accommodate the dually conversion. I would like to swap in the F5 to make it legit, if it makes sense.

its a bolt in, brake cables /flexline. and your C5 is probably due for some spindle ends anyway with all those years on wheel adapters/extensions.

Do it, do it soon.

My concern exactly. Found a 1990 Sterling from a disassembled chassis with tag code V129C, which translates to 4.10 non limited slip, but also has a ratio code of 4L10. So, I'm puzzled. Everywhere I look, I find the V129C listed as non limited slip, but every Ford I knew of with an "L" in the ratio code, translated to "limited slip."

Also, if this axle I'm looking at is in fact not a conventional F5, but rather a cab/chassis axle, can components be swapped onto my standard Sterling F350 axle housing? I think the spring perches on the 1990 cab/chassis axle are slightly more narrow than on the standard frame axle housing.

they did make a different 10.25 in the cab/chassis dual wheel axles. they are same distance rim face to rim face as a single wheel 10.25 but have the big brakes and a narrow spring stance> won't bolt into your Centurion's chassis

you'll need to take a spring stance measurement centre pin to centre pin. that will tell you which diff you are working with.
I tossed a wide dually 10.25 on the scrap pile and sold a cab/chassis 10.25 for $100 because it was more than scrap price.
they aren't worth ***** here. too many rotted out old trucks with not many miles on them.:kick::cry:

the cab/chassis dually axle brake parts won't fit your axle . they will fit the dually pickup axle I believe, both use the 12.125x3.5 brakes.
