Swapping to newer model I Beams

The '81 F350 dump needs kingpins and finding another set of "coined" 16" wheels has been fruitless. I took the 16"s off the dump to use on the RV getting rid of it's 16.5" wheels. The 16.5's are on the dump right now to keep it rolling. So here is my question.. Can newer ball joint style I beams ('88 or newer) be swapped under the '81 easily? I can find donor trucks in that era allover. Swapping the rear axle will allow using the "non coined" wheels all the way around. Thoughts or suggestions???

I believe it is all the same. I would do some quick measurements first just to make sure. I have an 81 f100 and the I beams look identical. im assuming you would be getting all the parts from the hub to the I beam. im not sure if the hubs or brakes would swap, that's the only reason I mentioned it.

I'd buy a rolling donor truck and swap the entire I beam and hub assemblies along with the rear axle.

Finally located parts from a '93 F350 dually. My concern is the rear axle swap. I have not measured either truck, but from past knowledge from other folks the frame on the dump should be narrower than the dually's frame. I have the equipment to move the spring seats(just didn't want too) assuming I'm going from a Dana axle to a Sterling. I guess my main question is is how much does the driveshaft have to be shortened? I don't believe we have a driveshaft shop any closer than 70 miles now.
