How hard is it to replace the steel break line starting at the back of the cab and continuing to the back axle? I've got a leaking break line. I've seen 3 other trucks that were the same year as mine with similar issues. My leak is back under the rear wheel well, but the line is rusted all the way up to the cab. I can't see most of it because the fuel tank blocks the view, so I'm not sure how many bends, twists, and/or joints there are up in there. The damage that I can see on this line is substantially worse than the stock line on my '93 which has virtually no rust on it despite living outside its entire life. I want everything that's damaged replaced so that the problem doesn't return while I'm towing my camper down the road. Having breaks that function is a pretty high priority for me, so I'm not really interested in splicing in a patch just at the leak.

get a roll of the bendable NiCopp brake line (no tool needed for bending) and go at it. It's not that bad fishing it along the rail past the fuel tank. You cant really "prebend" so just bend as you go. I'd do the entire length from the master cylinder for peace of mind.

2 issues with this^^^
1, you need a double flaring kit to flare the ends.
2, the rear line mounts to the proportioning valve on the drivers side frame rail.

do use a roll of line, when you buy the stock style line there are usually 1 or 2 unions in it.
they do this for the ease of install and replacement, but if you want all new do 1 solid piece.

it usually takes about as long to make the line as it does to bleed it.
when bleeding, bleed from the line you replaced to the flex line to help minimize the mess.
hell if youre going that far, replace the flex line too.

if you decide to use stainless steel line, be ready to convert to a 37* AN flare, you cant double flare stainless

Took another look at it this afernoon. Looks like it would be easy enough to snake some new line through there, but it also looks like it has eaten a hole through the fuel return line... Woo Hoo!!! Love buying used trucks
