It is also recommended to buy a Motorcraft water pump if you need/decide to replace it.
Eh... why?
I've replaced (probably factory original)waterpumps in three IDI powered trucks with Autozone pumps, and I haven't had any trouble.
At $55-ish, it's pretty economical too.

Also, they use a newer casting that prevents you from screwing up the two middle bolts on the top - the original factory design required shorter bolts there or the cam gear would catch on the end of the bolt. The newer casting has a taller boss, and uses the same length bolts as most of the others.

I'm inclined to agree. Just ordered a "motorcraft" (it was at least in the right box) water pump the other day and it looked Chinese. The instructions even said marine water pump. Last truck got an AutoZone that was fine till I sold the truck.
The "motorcraft" came with two bolts and flat washers as well. I'd rather have the new casting style.....

You can swap to the international water pump if you wish to eliminate the thread on fan clutch. It's otherwise the same.
Do your homework on coolant. Get the right stuff with SCA.

I guess I'm in the right place, about 5 years ago I got my dream truck, 1994 F250 idi/banks 5 speed. Mine sat for about a year after the po put contaminated fuel in it. Ended up replacing both tanks, switching valve(gm autozone replacement) injector pump, injectors and lines. Odometer didn't read when I bought it but the condition was really good. Imagine my surprise when I changed the odometer fuse and it showed 380,000 miles. Oh well, she runs like a top and I'd trust her for cross country running today.

You sure sound alot like me in my story! This old truck may not be much its just a n/a IDI with a slushbox, which by the way is out of the truck and will be taken to a old family friend that is a transmission master builder. He has had his own shop doing transmission work for over 40 years! I also forgot to update everyone i got this beast started up for the first time since i owned it! Got two new optima batteries and a new battery/starter cable and cleaned the everliving crap off the ground cables. Dropped the tanks and cleaned them out the rear tank had slime in it. So i did both to make sure i got the bacteria out all at one time. Put in new beru glow plugs and changed the oil filter and blew out the K&N. I also changed out the coolant for some new extended life motorcraft with distilled water for a 50/50 mix.

To hear the sound of that diesel spin to life was about the happiest thing i have had happen to me in over a year. This truck looks like it fell out of a plane and hit every tree in the county on the way down lol well not that bad, but it wont be winning any awards for its good looks. It spun to life within 3 seconds of hitting the ignition, i had an ear to ear grin for the first time in a good while. Although it's still a long way from being done i feel like i am over the hump getting my dream to a reality. I still need to get the trans and transfer case stabbed back in when i get it back from my buddy, and get a new set of 4 tires i think i am gonna run some 33" all terrains on it.

I just can't say how happy i am with this old truck and how far its come in just a short time. I was sitting behind the wheel with it running juat thinking of all the fun i am gonna have with this thing. I also cant thank you guys enough for the help and kindness that you have shown me helping me wake up this workhorse and get it back on its feet again. I will take some pictures of it when i get done with it and put some tires on it pretty soon. Thanks again for everything guys i plan on sticking around here for a long time.

11B hooah! Welcome aboard and enjoy the truck, I am on my second in four years and love them.

I must have missed your post last night while posting. I most certianly was an 11B got my snowcone with a mustard stain and my CIB Hooah! My brother was SF and my dad was a Ranger. So it runs in my blood much like many other great American families.
