How is the transmission shifting now? Any update of the egts, and I haven't seen you mention how far your IP is turned up. I think a stock turbo cal pump will produce 90cc maxed out. I see a lot of guys maxing them with an efficient turbo and definitely with a IC.

I've found that with a fox valley setup, somewhere around 17 degrees when measured to the top of the timing pointer plate seems to work well.

Of course, if your IP is worn, it's more of an adjust-and-test number; get the high end to work nicely and then mess with the timing advance cam to where your low end feels snappy and doesn't clatter too badly.

It shifts ok except for a hard 2nd. i am still tooling around with the tach sensor for rpm info shared with the ECU.

EGT has dropped maybe 150F since gutting the CAT.

My pump is not turned up at all yet, just mainly altitude compensation is all the turbo does at this point.

No IC on my build right now either. It is mainly a stock engine and stock pump settings with 3 inch exhaust and a turbo right now..

Well, I have emptied the CAT, and installed a Magnaflow straight through style muffler and have 3" piping. My EGT Going up a 6% grade empty will hit very close to 1200 and it does seem to have a bit more power since these mods. 1200 is in OD doing roughly 50 and it gets to a point where OD will no longer hold and i drop into 3rd.

EGT will still be pretty close to 1200 in 3rd with close to 2700 RPM.

I got my pump and injectors from him, so much better than stock! One day I wanna do a full build with his parts see how much power an idi can make!
450RWHP/1,000 ft-lbs of torque will bend the connecting rods of a stock 7.3 motor.
Justin(@R&D) did it with a stock 88 block, big turbo, and a RD4 pump modded to put out like 200CCs.

With PS-modded rods? I don't think anyone knows yet.

I read the build your own motor section of his page itd be pretty expensive but I wonder what the final outcome would be with all of it, like 180 pump, cam, studded all around, pistons shaved coated, stage three turbo set and such. Has it been done yet?

I don't know how I missed this thread. I SWEAR I saw you in town and was thoroughly confused at the SD that sounded like an IDI

I have the Snap On timing stuff if you want to bring it over and double check your settings. Also, I second the motion to ditch or hollow out that Cat asap!


I just purchased a Kent Moore J-33300 setup. I will let you know how far off it was when i receive it..

Ok, keep me in the loop. My work schedule is crazy lately, but I should be around a bit more in February if you want to compare numbers

I believe he said in another video that turning up the fuel also dropped the egt some because of the efficiency.
