I put an idi-t motor in my 1990 7.3 zf 5 4x4 truck a couple years ago and at the time didn't know of the differences in harmonic balances and flywheels. Has always been vibey. I got a idi-t balancer from a member here and that straightened out vibes at certain rpm but there is still another that I have always suspected of being flywheel. Seems many do not know they are different so question is has anybody gotten one lately and had it be right and smooth. I want to get one but fear I will get sent the wrong one and be right where I started. SMf is my preference

Never mind. I just ordered one. Easy if you have a part number. Thanks again

I'm surprised you dealt with it that long. I accidentally put a turbo flywheel on a non turbo motor and drove it down the street once before pulling it back out.

That bad? Mine doesn't seem that bad to me until I would start up another idi I had and it was way smoother. Internet searching seemed to turn up plenty of people saying they were the same flywheel so I figured it must be pretty subtle. It was supposed to be balanced correctly but I don't think they knew it was supposed to be different.

I probably could have lived with it, but I could tell something was off and I didn't like the shifter wobbling in my hand. Vibrations like that can hurt things given enough time.

Could running it like that bend a crank? Or would either break or be just fine?
