Just got it a couple weeks ago. Was hoping for 15/16 local which is what my brother in law gets on his 99. But it looks like the factory sticker said 12 local 17 freeway?

Did a full tune up, replaced air and fuel filter. It does have 175k, seems to have plenty of power, smooth, oil still fairly clean.

Does that still have a actual distributor? Or coil on plugs?
Get a tuner.

Ah probably just a new coil cap. Tuners are $$$ don't see paying a couple hundred to get 1-2mpg increase. Maybe if the thine was driven a ton, but it's going to average 6-8k a year.

Took two trips, one 60mph ish 150miles round trip and 18.8mpg. Then 600 miles round trip 70mph ish and 18.1. Ok so it doesn't like local driving as much as I expected, but overall ok.

When did they start putting Vortec motors in? 18MPG highway is pretty decent at 70mph. 2wd or 4wd?
