I bought the transmission from a wrecking yard ... it was supposed to be a good one, but it wasn't after fighting it for a month and swapping the torque converter the warranty ran out.
Cottman Transmission is the one that found the problem.
I know exactly what you went through had the same thing happened while I was using a lathe 30 years ago... I was only going to take a little bit of metal off and didn't want to walk all the way across the shop to get my safety glasses on... Yeah felt great!
So after fighting my e4od on and off for a year I finally brought it to a transmission shop that actually had any kind of ideas... the problem was the torque converter would not lockup... I tried to get ideas on forums but nothing positive came of it... so I cleaned all the wiring harness...
Transmission guy says the valve body would fix the detent problem and may give me better performance towing so it wouldn't hurt to kill that bird and that might fix it ... but the computer could be bad and/or/also... who does a control module for these trucks?
So you make the "spring/coil" long-term to make it lockup sooner? by a 1/8 to a1/4 inch?... can you replace the coil if you break it?... and jb weld would work?
I am having problems with the torque converter not locking up and the shifter is realy mushy, something is definitely wrong with the detent or springs.
And I am looking to upgrade for towing
So I'm looking at replacing the valve body in my 1991 e4od and I'm not sure what form it was this one or FTE that had somebody selling valve bodies that were tweaked for Towing, the guys sign on name was
Paul "something or other" any help would be appreciated thank you.
The 093 is waist gated the others are not... does yours have a rubber hose going to a vacuum canister looking thing on the side of the turbo with a rod hooked up to a arm on it on the exhaust?
Lack of sleep is making it hard to think straight.
