I have the GV unit on a ZF5 4.10 gears, shifts with a solenoid, mounts behind the transfer case. It is locked out anytime the 4wd dash light has been on. To reset it after using 4wd, I back up to unlock hubs then turn off the ignition then restart the truck. I have about 200K miles on it. The...
gpsandtrack.com has trackers. not cheap. i had one on some remotely located equipment and it didn't work so well because of bad cell service. in town it worked find.
You could set up a geofence and be alerted by text if the tracker left the area
I've been using Parts Unlimited polyurethane clear blue fuel line and spring clips on my return lines for 5-7 years with no problems. When it was new, it is translucent so you could see air in it.
Now it is brown and opaque, but still flexible and not leaking.
Rock Auto has group 65 agm batteries. Deka 9A65 shipped to CO with tax is about $200. ACDelco 65agmrc is about $30 less. The Deck weighs a few pounds more than the ACDelco, so probably has more lead in it.
I have 7-8 year old Sears Platinum Diehards group 65 945 CCA (rebranded Odyssey's) with no problems since they were new. I keep the truck "tuned up" (all GP's working, injectors in good shape etc) and it starts in below zero weather with no problem, left outside with no block heater plugged in...
I've been running Rotella 15w-40 for years. Only use a quart every oil change (3-4000 miles). 323,000 miles. I get a fair amount of smoke after driving low load on a mild downhill or flat road then accelerate up a hill. Guessing worn valve guides on the rear cylinders. Other than that, not much...
I get a lot of smoke when going uphill and accelerating after loafing along on the flat. I assume that it is just oil accumulating on top of the head and then running to the back and down the valve guides when I go uphill.
I recently switched from Rotellla 15w40 to a synthetic chinese Sinopec 15w40. Was getting around 16-17mpg now getting 18-20 mpg. 4.10 rear and 5 spd, but have Gear Vendors overdrive and doing a pretty easy backroad non-hilly commute w/avg speed around 45mph in 5th. On the highway, I'm getting...
I've had out of round brake drums that stick and grab. To check it, I took it off, mounted back on the hub backwards and put a dial indicator on it to check run out while turning it.
Just had some surging on a dump truck drum that was only 0.014" out of round. A new drum fixed it.
The best pads I found are some made by Performance Friction Products. They last forever, don't gouge the rotors and have great stopping power.
I replaced some out of round rear drums and the adjusting hardware. When my brakes start not working 100%, some brisk stops while in reverse gets the...
Places I've had invisible coolant leaks on my truck that weren't from cracks/seam problems/holes in my radiator
Gasket under the cap.
Overflow tube at the fill neck
Heater hose on fitting at the exhaust manifold
Slow leaks on hoses on the inlet and outlet fittings despite (fixed by sealing with...
