6.9 will not rev or idle right until return line is plugged
Howdy fellas, I have my Dad's 1986 Ford F-250HD XL 2WD 6.9L/C-6. It has pretty bad air intrusion (Surges idle, dies, won't rev) until I hook another line to the return output and put my thumb over it and put pressure on the system. I replaced the line that goes from the lift pump to the frame...- pcwizzy16

I can't imagine how the voltage can get as low as 6v-9v, unless you have a massive draw somewhere.- pcwizzy16

The first one I've seen fail, was burning a ton of oil, had bad compression, and downright clanked more than it should. Another one dropped a valve, and tore up the piston and destroyed the connecting rod and block, another one had a TON of blow by. They might not have all been related to having...- pcwizzy16

I wouldn't turbocharge an N/A IDI, the Stock turboed '93 and up 7.3L IDI had beefier rings and other components, and I've seen a ton of messed up IDIs that had aftermarket turbo kits.- pcwizzy16

Southern Oregon ay?I'm in southern Oregon too. Did you ever put sulfer additive in the fuel? If not, the lube-lacking fuel probably wore out the IP.- pcwizzy16
