Installed new water pump, fan clutch, hoses, etc. Wasn’t a particularly difficult job, but it was time consuming considering all the brackets that have to be removed to get to the pump. The only real problem I ran into was the inlet tube on top of the pump. The tube was almost welded to the...
Mine was still hard to start after replacing the GPs. It turned out the GP relay on the fender was bad too. As soon as I replaced that it started almost instantly. Since you have a 91, you have a different system than I have, so hopefully someone else can weigh in on what you should check...
Glad the tool worked for you. I had the same issue getting under the fuel lines, which is why it took me longer than expected. I had to use a small ratchet with a swivel attachment, and could only turn it in small increments before bumping up against a fuel line. The GP in the back on the left...
PO of my truck had installed Autolite GP”s, and 6 out of 8 were ballooned and stuck. I bought a GP removal tool from Leroy Diesel, and was able to get all of them out without breaking. It still wasn’t easy given the limited space under the fuel lines, but I just took my time and finally got...
Replaced my starter and battery cables today. It was a lot of fun in the heat wave we’ve been experiencing :( . Hope I don’t have do that again anytime in the near future. It was worth the effort though. Fires up as soon as I turn the key.
It’s possible, but challenging for sure. I lucked out and found a good one a few months ago for $4k, but I knew the family. I had been searching for months for an older truck to use for tasks I didn’t want to use my new Ram to do, i.e. pulling the boat to the river/lake, feeding the cows, etc...
My 84 XLT has a factory tach. I haven’t checked to see if there is a hole in the IP housing for the tach pick up, but now I’m curious enough to take a look tomorrow.
I had the same problem. Replaced the 8 swollen Autolite plugs the with Motorcraft gp‘s and it still wouldn’t start. I then replaced the GP relay and it fired right up. If your relay is good, then like others have said it might be your GP harness.
Sure, here are a few more. I am including a pic of the ATS turbo. I don’t know which ATS model it is. Most of the pics I see of other ATS units have square filter housings instead of rectangle. The odometer show 8,200 miles, and the p/o claims it only has 108k miles total. I tend to believe...
