good to hear everyone's trip went well. hopefully the next one will work out for me to make it. lower fuel prices and maybe a shorter drive would help. the old cummins and 45ft camper dont add up to fuel economy lol.

yeah its still on the planning board, and i could say its like most towns and no progress has been made yet lol. my lift i would use to work on it has been occupied with paying jobs so hard to turn them away. way she goes i guess lol.
i get what you mean. i am no expert in metallurgy but have done a lot of fab work on frames over the years and haven't had an issue with doing stuff like this. its not a structural weld so you could do small tacks and the heat will get soaked up quick. i would always prefer to weld and properly...
i would slap some weld on the worn spots and grind it flush. looks clean tho, and will come out awesome blasted and painted.

nice! would like to know how you like it once you get her going. i was looking at the Allison md3060 for another project. the 3060 has an overdrive and i believe the 543 is a 5 speed no overdrive.?
