Second post says it all
"The oil pump needs to be removed and dropped in the pan before the pan can be removed. Installation is the reverse, easier said than done. "
Would be OK, if you had a second wrist joint at 90 degrees to the standard one we all have.
I pulled the pan once on a 6.9...
Too much life going on..
This is the year that we plan to....
Sell MIL's town house in Bel Air, Md
Buy a RANCHER house and move to PA. York, Carlisle, Gettysburg area. Said house to have existing minimum 24x40 foot detached garage. Add lift and other stuff. Or build similar on the...
Mel, you must do the cog RR to Mt Washington.
Mt Washington is one of my most favorite places. If you like extremes of weather, you'll like it..seeing the old observation station chained to the mountain begins to explain what high winds the place is exposed to. My previous trips have been clear...
The engine is very heavy, and you will have to lift it high. Be aware that if it starts to swing side to side that you need to stop it immediately. Not saying don't do it--but just a warning from personal experience.
I posted on this topic after I did it.....some 10-15 years ago or longer!
I fabricated up a wrench to get the oil filter bolts about 18" long.
Remember the manual says to remove the pump and let it drop into the pan?
Also remember the manual says " assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly"...
I agree with all that, and since you are new to the forum, let me add......
DO NOT REMOVE THE INJECTION PUMP BY PULLING THE HALF-ROUND COVER!!
Read the tech section articles. Pull the pump the "correct way" and save a lot of time. Do it the way that "looks" easy and you will add untold...
Fowlers made it safely home. EGTs stayed below 1220 degrees or so. Thanks to Corey for setting the timing when all I asked was to know what it was. He went the extra mile and set it. Quieter, lower EGTs and maybe (hope) a little less fuel usage.
Also a special thanks to Goose for hosting...
I AM OFFICIALLY "ON VACATION".
Having had a run-in with a particularly asinine co-"worker". I am ready.
Camper is mostly packed. Will finish in the morning. After all my neighbors go to work, I will be able to get the camper out of the driveway and be on my way. Sharon and I hope to arrive...
I still have to get it down, and I plan to.....
If you ignore the letters, they will send more letters. Maybe even armed federal agents in full military combat gear with helios, night vision and all.....
"Patience" is not very high on my personal tools list at the present time.
Maybe I'll get back to them before the Rally. OR----does anyone want to do a "demonstration" of how to remove them????
I bet they have NEVER been changed. I pulled the other 6, and found one bad. I replaced that one with a Beru. One of the "good" ones is an Autolight, so I put that in the front hole on the driver's side, so I can get to it easily to replace that one.
I know I have 6 good plugs, and 2 unknown.
