Rear end wanted
I have an '83 Ford F250 IDI 6.9 and am in need of a rear end. I can find plenty with a 4.10 ratio, but i need a 3.54 ratio. I think they pretty much only put these in the diesel trucks. 48RE auto trans fix!!
OK I see a lot of posts of problems with 48RE trannys either getting stuck in 2nd gear at take off or getting a bad hunting or surging at easy acceleration. Thre is a fix for that!!!!!!! Auto Trans Gurus Please Help
There is a fix out there for that!!!! Thew problem is a sticky pressure solenoid!!! Do not waste the money on puttting in normal solenoids and pressure sensors. You need to get a "GM Control Kit". '06 3500 tranny
The 48RE Tranny came out in 03, but in 04.5 to mid 07 the 48RE had an electric kickdown instead of the cable. This made it much more efficient. A HUGE problem with these trannys is the pressure sensors and solenoids have bad problems. Common problems are loss of 1st gear and/or a bad hunting...- klichwil
