we just sold an '92 e-350 van at work the other day with 7.3 and only 88k miles. i almost bought it just for the engine. would make a great contractors truck though too.
Ether = damage over time. I'd never use ether until I found it absolutely needed (stuck out in the middle of BFE). I'll use it at work or on OPE's if it's needed to assist in starting but not on my own engines except for a last resort. The IDI is a tough engine and with a proper ignition system...
After a bit of of adjusting the the collector pipe, crossover and down pipe I eliminated the small exhaust leak I had after the intial install. Also after using a big bar and bending the firewall lip and heatshield I eliminated an awful growl that I was getting with hard acceleration and right...

I think that's what I have come to believe it is my self. It seems that the growl is more prominent from a stand still start and really prominent when turn right from a stand still start. The growl is not noticable at a left hand start. I think a combination of the engine...
Yes the turbo was used. However I did check the end play before I installed the turbo. There was none. The turbine wheel spins freely and compressor vanes looked in excellent shape. As to how many mile that's a good question.
