    Ether = damage over time. I'd never use ether until I found it absolutely needed (stuck out in the middle of BFE).     Are you getting those engines locally? I myself am looking for an IDI that I can tear down and rebuild slowly as time and money permits. It seems that the growl is more prominent from a stand still start and really prominent when turn right from a stand still start. The growl is not noticable at a left hand start.     Yes the turbo was used. However I did check the end play before I installed the turbo. There was none. The turbine wheel spins freely and compressor vanes looked in excellent shape. As to how many mile that's a good question.
