'86 6.9 NA vs. '93 6.5 TD
you will get more power out of the 6.5L, as long as kept stock it should be fine. you'll get a nicer looking truck too, and an overdrive trans.- dealwithit

2003 Silverado 2500HD 6BT Swap
yes there are aircare tests here in vancouver bc, but its easy enough to get aroung them with a truck, raising a GVW to 5001 will negate the need for aircare testing on any size of truck......:D thats to bad you didn't get a newer p-pumped dodge, but i guess you can still make some ponies with...- dealwithit

Replacing coolant bypass hose (behind lower radiator hose) (PICTURE INTENSIVE)

hmmmmm, i dropped a 82 300SD OM617 turbo diesel 5cyl in my 92 b2600i (same truck as yours, just a bigger trans and rearend). i mated the engine up to the truck 5spd with a custom adapter plate and some machine work on the flywheel. i've got a bunch more videos of it under my name on...- dealwithit

How many miles on your 6.5?
i have 380,000kms on my 96 gmc sierra 1500 z71 4x4 6.5L auto. runs great, barely uses any oil between changes too :D- dealwithit

Scary engine knock
the 92/93 trucks were the only trucks with the turbo and all mechanical pumps with spring only wastegates and no ECU's. also only the 1500's have egr stuff on them, hence why your truck is so simple and clean.- dealwithit

6.5l Detroit vs 7.3l IDI Turbo
with the chevy you can get as new as a 98 1500 or up to a 2000 2500 with the same IDI 6.5L turbo. with the ford you get a powerstroke by 94, more complicated, but more power too. with the chevy they held the same motor from like 83-98, same block just going to computer control. ford changed...- dealwithit
