    7.3 Diesel Transmission Adaptor Plate

We ALL run into this when "updating" our trucks and other old vehicles. Finding the right parts is HARD. Finding part suppliers might be the easiest way to do this. 4wheelparts.com is where we could find Jeep parts. Maybe there is one or two suppliers for our IDI parts.

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

My take on all of this "global warming" is the earth is fixing the high CO2 by growing billions more plants/trees to produce O2. Higher temperatures go along with this. The earth is self regulating to a point, but what is this point? Nobody knows this until we reach the domes day point...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

I DO remember. a seatbelt that was attached to the seat frame. I can't remember which vehicle it was in nor the year. This was back when seat belts were first required in cars and trucks.

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

Wow! A "conversation" of a very political subject that is very civil and informative! I completely agree with most of what has been said. Calif is a GREAT state if you stay away from the big cities. This is why I moved to Mendocino County. It is very rural and pretty with all of the Redwood...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

I saw a very interesting way for future combustion engines; Hydrogen fueled. Think about it. The only "pollutants" they would produce are CO2 and water. CO2 is a plant food and they turn it into O2 (Oxygen). No other bad gases or solids to destroy our planet and our health. VW is looking...

    Time for a clutch change

"This 63 year old body is giving out and this will be my last clutch change Im sure." -mexicanjoe I am 75 years and I still do a fair amount of mechanic work. I am sure I will not change a clutch on these trucks. I remember doing this when I was much younger and it was a JOB and HALF! Oil...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

My family moved to Orange County the year Disneyland opened in 1957. The smog was so bad back then you could not see a block away. Today it is much better but at a co$t. Gasoline and diesel are "fake" (man made with added chemicals). We all pay for it. We have the highest gasoline and...

    Electric fuel pump wiring

Your proposed safety cutoff switch can cause "no starts" as you will not have any oil pressure when you try to start it. You will need to temporally bypass the oil pressure switch when you start it. I don't know how this is done, but others here do.

    Engine Running Cold

I remember my '92 F-350 7.3 NA running cold. I was running over Donner Summit many years back. I took some cardboard and shoved it in front of the radiator, for something like 70% coverage. This got it much warmer but not hot, as I recall. Don't depend on factory Gauges!

    Valve Stem Seals

Today's diesels have a vacuum pump that is electrically or belt driven. The engine it self can not create a vacuum.

    Who's smarter?

You are not old enough to remember when Chrysler had push buttons on the dash for the shifter of the Auto tranny. They were a big deal for a couple of years and then Chrysler went back to the column shifter.

    parallel turbos

I am not sure why you would wrap the exhaust AFTER it exits the turbo? No need to keep the exhaust HOT after the turbo.
