Ok thanks for the input guys. It confirmed some of my concerns. The 88 is a reg cab long bed 2wd 1 ton. It’s the 90’s body style. No hydro boost. I got it for practically nothing. The previous owner had a camper in the back of it so he upgraded the rear axle. Dana 70 3HD- Dailydriver

Ok stupid question but it sounds like you guys would know. To my knowledge the 12v Cummins and a gm th400 would not be compatible. My 2 cents. Cut out the core support. You thought way ahead about the radiator which I may not have done. Cut it out as far as you need to. Weld a strip of metal following the curve to reinforce the hole in the core support. OH MAN! Welding now is not really what you want to do in there...- Dailydriver

I would go with new stuff even if I means trusting an aftermarket part or no name brand. If your positive the parts are crap then don't use them.
