I will get some pictures up soon but a little update on the build. The truck is together and I am driving now but I have forgone the turbo and intercooler for now and am running it NA. I have gained some consistency in it's operation and running characteristics and a few thoughts and notes on...
Thanks for the prompting. I do have an update and yes the engine is built and in running order as well as mated to my ZF5 and sitting in the truck. I don't currently have a picture of that yet but I plan to soon be working on the truck and getting it back together.
Rebuilt 6.9 IDI Diesel...
I have this very set up from a parts truck. This is a link for other info and pictures that I found.

I haven’t updated in a little while but this link is my build using this turbo setup...
WHEN I DID MY SAS, MY AXLE CAME WITH EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE CALIPERS. WHEN I INTIALLY INSTALLED THE AXLE I DIDN'T PUT THE TRACK BAR IN AND I WOULD GET DW WHEN I HIT BUMPS ON THE HIGHWAY. THAT WAS UNTILL I INSTALLED THE TRACK BAR WITH NEW BUSHINGS. EVERYTHING BOLTED UP IN WITH NO FITTMENT ISSUES...
SO THE WAY I HAVE THE TURBO REPOSTIONED IT WILL BE EASIER TO CLEAR EVERYTHING AND SEND IT DOWN THE STOCK LOCTION BETWEEN THE BELL HOUSING AND FIREWALL.
IT WOULD BE EASIER TO SAY WHAT IT DID COME WITH.
- VALLEY PAN/ INTAKE GASKET
- VALVE COVER GASKET
- WATER NECK GASKET

I GET THAT THE NAPA SOLENOID MAY NOT BE BUILT WITH AS GOOD OF PARTS. MY QUESTION IS DOES IT OPERATE LIKE AN OEM UNIT AS FAR AS FUNCTION GOES? I HAVE HEARD THAT OTHER GLOW PLUG CONTROLERS WON'T FUCTION QUITE RIGHT AND HEAT FOR THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME ETC. I WILL BE USING MOTORCRAFT GLOW PLUGS.
So some time has passed and there has been progress. I have got my block and rotating assembly back from the machinist as previously my problem was finding a set of piston rings for my .040 over pistons which now has been remedied. The compression rings are the regular 5/32 rings found...
I tore apart a 7.3 not to long ago that was seized solid. We actually sheared all of the fly wheel bolts trying to turn the engine over with the clutch.
It turned out that it had dropped a valve, cracked the cylinder, demolished the piston, and the rod and pin was curled up underneath against...
Well part of what spurred this idea was a conversation with a customer who faced the breaker tripping problem while he was out on the rigs. He was unable to have both heaters plugged in because it would trip the breaker and mind you, at least one or two other people were usually plugged in at...
So I have an idea for a better cold start that could apply to other applications as well as a 6.9 and 7.3 IDI. Block heaters are generally a must if cold starts are below the -10C (14F) or so mark and there may be some opinion on whether it is better to have your heat in the cooling system or to...
