Jackman Maine, also known as The Switzerland of Maine, is a small town nestled in the North Western Mountains of Maine in the Moose River Valley.

Jackman and Moose River have been catering to snowmobilers for over 20 years. The snowmobile trails are ideally located for access to accommodations, restaurants and services of all kinds.

Ice fishing is an extremely popular sport. The Lakes and Ponds in the region: Big Wood Lake, Little Big Wood, Holeb Pond, Long Pond and Spencer Lake, are usually thick enough to travel on by season open (January 1st) and stay frozen well into March.

Who says that hiking is only a summer sport? Not in Jackman. Put on your snowshoes and take a hike!

The Jackman-Moose River Region is rich in game and opportunities for hunting and trapping throughout the winter season.

Geocaching is "a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices." There are about 26 locations in this region, many are accessible in the winter via snowmobile or snowshoe.

You do not need to have a rifle or a GPS device to enjoy hunting in Maine. The winter scenery in this region can be captured with your camera too.

As a local, the best way I would describe Jackaman, would be; Like Greenville/the Moosehead lake area with less tourists.
