One reason Diesel care and performance stays in business is because of the limited amount of Diesel shops around this area. In my area we got one good mechanic that knows his stuff, and knows how to fix stuff and won't rip you a new one doing it. Problem is, hes got issues, and stays so backed up it takes months to get your stuff back, and you often have to go pick it up without him ever touching it because he sat on it so long. Then you got a couple over priced know it all-nothings in Memphis. Then you get on the phone with Diesel care and performance and he talks a good game and all that jazz, but never delivers. The one other local guy is a hack, is known for selling salvage parts to unknowing customers as new ones, and the typical bad shop scams. He also actually knows his stuff, you just can't ever trust him with what you are getting.

SPECTRUM CUSTOM AUTO, ANTIOCH CALIFORNIA

these guys are royal hacks.
they do a wide array of "custom" auto's trucks, and bikes.
many here will have the pleasure of NOT dealing with them.
but just in case someone local sees this.
DO NOT USE THEM!
i have worked on 3 vehicles they have royally f'd up.
cross thread speed sensors, cracked bondo work, incorrect mounting of engines,
they used a 1/4" aluminum bolt in the steering boss of a car i did some work on.
DO NOT GO THERE. EVER.

i'm confused now. there's a Mac's that's right off the river in that area who serves an outstanding steak dinner. i remember tying up to a dock and making it across the road for food. biggest challenge is getting my drunk ass back to the boat when done. are we talking the same place?

Alright ladies and gents, heres another negative rant about PENSACOLA DIESEL.
bought some "remanned" injectors 2 years ago, they sent me 5 D codes and 3 E codes. I had to send them back on my cost cause they didnt cover shipping in canada.
anywya, recently installed them, truck ran like crap, smoked like a freight train at startp, shook the whole truck, smoked on lightest accel, just smoked nonstop and would make random popping noises.

installed R&D Performance injectors, butter smooth, quick start up, no shaking at all, no smoke.

spend the extra bucks to save yourself extra hundreds down the road!!

Hey, this sucks I hate to post this I really really do.

Joseph Pedro here on ob is not that good a fellow to deal with.

I have every single text message along with pm messagez here to support my statement

In or around dec 2014 he asked in market place and requested a zf offered turbo in trade..

I offered a 4x zf 3rd gear synchro toasr. He accepted deal. I then included a complete hydroboost mi us pedal for him as a bonus. I shipped cery professionally packed on my dkme as agreed difference to be repaid later plus cost me 40 buck in fuel.

He got it a few days later and within a couple days text me picture rebiilt and only 3rd gear synchro as I said....

Many messages later and about 2 mo tkme i get turbo kit. Packed pretty poor in comparrizon to my shipme t to him...some of the product was damaged in shipping...not big deal never came up by this time I was happy I got turbo kit as agreed.

Now I asked about coverjng my shipping cost vs his and suggested he pay it all and Joseph said ya sorry it took so long sure I can do that.....diffrence was around 30 or 40 for him ship turbo vs me trans and hydro.

Well text mezsGes and phone calls both answered and the shovels full delivered but not a cent recieved.

It breaks my heart to speak ill of a member here it truly does I have been literally sick a few times over this.

Just wanted everuone to know ....

Sorry ....but this needed to come out...

If there is any doubt at all all pm and texts hqve been saved to CMA...

Wow, sorry to hear that. I never understood why it's so hard for some to follow up their words with action. A man's word is supposed to be his bond; you'd expect that would mean something, but I guess they just weren't raised right.

Rodney Red

I'm sure some of you won't like this, but Rodney Red goes on this list. After being recommended by this site I purchased one of there $650 radiators. I didn't look as nice as I thought it should and it didn't fit well but whatever I could live with it and I did. After three years and few miles it began to leak. I called about this problem and I was told to have it epoxied at a local rad shop. So, I did at a reputable shop. It leaked again right away at new places lacking all across top and bottom. I have it epoxied again free of charge and it leaks again. I call Rodney Red and they will not answer the phone. I call multiple times and they won't answer the phone. I leave a message explaining my problem, but no phone call is returned.

RODNEY RED YOU'RE A JOKE

DON'T GET SCREWED ON A ****** PRODUCT LIKE I DID

Deer Valley Diesel in Phoenix Arizona, owned by Rick Cortez. I had just put on my turbo, which was rebuilt by typ4. The overall system wasn't performing as well as it should, and I took it into Deer Valley Diesel, and asked for them to go over it looking for primarily intake side leaks, and also look for exhaust leaks.

10 hours later, I get the truck back, they claim the wastegate actuator was bad, and that was the problem. I couldn't get a hold of typ4, but talked to Joel at Conestoga, he was kind enough to call the shop, and talk with them; where they gave him the 'bad actuator' story. The temporary solution was to wire the wastegate shut.

That night after I got the truck back, and noticed zero boost(instead of the 3psi I was getting). I studied up on how the actuator works, and realized it should've even bad held the wastegate shut, as it's spring loaded. I played with the 'bad wastegate', and it was absolutely good. The spring was holding the rod in, and if pulled out, and released there was a healthy blast of air out of the diaphragm. The next day, I took a squirt bottle of soapy water to the exhaust crossover pipes, as well as the uppipe. I found 3 leaks, and repaired them in under 30 minutes; the turbo really started howling at that point, but still no boost.

I took the wastegate actuator back to Deer Valley Diesel Repair to see what they had to say, and Rick Cortez personally looked at it, and verified it was good. I also pointed out that I found 3 leaks, and that's what I brought it to them for to find, and repair; his response was they charged me for a 'starting point' of troubleshooting. Back to the actuator, since it was good, the story from Rick changed from it being bad, to it not adjusting at all, and was holding the wastegate open a smidge. While explaining this to me, Rick actually was spinning the rod inside the actuator; which I've read it's a no-no to do. I told him not to do it, and hand it back as that would ruin the diaphragm. I also told him the rod adjustment was pinned by Ford.

He then said, 'well it was holding the wastegate open'. I took it, and left. Later that day, I reinstalled the wastegate actuator, and I've got boost. It spools up fairly fast, howls, and I easily hit 5psi of boost. I think there's still an intake side leak, and will be pulling it apart soon enough to install new o-rings.

if youre looking for a set of gauges for your truck.
DO NOT DECIDE ON THIS COMPANY.
i ordered a speedometer, a fuel gauge, oil pressure, engine temp, and volt meter on 2/23/2016

on 5/24 i canceled my order.
the item would not ship until 7/1.

tried to communicate to them through e-mail with my requirements and questions.

i was told to contact an authorized dealer.

save yourself the headache.
