I bought this truck last spring just for trips with my kids. It's in pretty good shape for it's age. Specs are 88 f350 with a newer 7.3 idi and a turbo. Also is a 5 spd with 3.54 gears.
I do have a few questions for y'all but that will be later.
The 4 snow photos are when I bought it. The rest are from our trips, we've taken it to Bryce np, capital reef np arches np, canyon lands np islnd in the sky district, goblin valley st park and 1 camping trip in central ut mnts. since March and have had no real problems. The ac works good and the cruise control did until the speedo went out.

Welcome to the site, it's great that spend time with your kids in the great outdoors and not behind a computer screen playing games or in front of the boob tube. I was beginning to think it was a lost art that thing called outside....

Oh and the truck looks great too!

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking rig too. Here in cali we never ever get to camp alone because someone is already cmaped or soon will camp beside you. Way back in the mid 70's the wife and I would take a block of ice. Some Dendy Moore canned soup nd some water to the desert around us. Camps all weekend and not see anyone. The drive home was tuff but the shower when we got home was great. Its tuff on the hot desert with only drinking water... Still feel like we had no worrys back then. As for your truck please ask before buying parts. There are so amny creeps on ebay thinking they are a great shop but end up cheating you badly. If you able to do the work we can surely help by giving advice what does and does not fit or work..

What a great camping rig! The 5 speed and 3.54's don't hurt for easy cruising down the road either. Very nice.

Thanks for the welcome!
Our first trip was around 700 miles in 5 days but the speedo started acting up towards the end and eventually quite working. Also both tanks don't quite register right on the gauge. The tanks will have to wait till next winter to be fixed and they work good enough to get by till then but I do want the speedo working to get the cruise back but it wont happen before our next trip unfortunately. Were going to Yellowstone for 5 days in a couple weeks! I did replace the front bench with a 42 20 40 seat from a 96 f150 eddie bauer. It will fit in the rear to and my girls are quite upset that they didn't get the first one. I had to explain to them that my old but couldn't take another trip with the bench seat. So I am looking for one from a crewcab this time so i can get the rear pockets for coloring books and videos.

Yes it cruises down the hwy very nice and smooth. I bought it from a older guy that bought it in 90 as a repo with 12k on it. It now has 160k according to the previous owner. He actually only used it for the same thing I'm doing with it.

I bet your speedo gear is torn up.
I don't even know where you can get them. But pull the old one first so you get the right color.

Those speedometers are electronic and I think they read off the differancial tone ring on the ring gear. I know they are not the cable driven type I have.

88 should be cable driven for the speedo. I would pull the speedo drive out of the transfer case and see if the cables intact.

Excellent looking truck and I really like the look with the tipper. Your in the right spot for help!

Is there a build on your van anywhere? I like it.

Also it wont be until after the Yellowstone trip before I get a chance to look at the speedo problem. I have crawled under there and it does appear to be cable driven.
