You must have been running it before with that broken mount. Don't be paranoid, have it welded up. If your buddy can half assed weld it, probably be golden.

I have never had this truck registered actually Bill. I'm on the fence. I may let him try. Worse case, I still have to swap tail housings.

I say have him give it a go Mike. You really have nothing to lose. Even if you run it and its less than perfect, swapping in a fully fresh zf at some future date isnt any big deal. As opposed to making a fresh ZF part of this phase of the build.

I would run it as is or do Shawn's idea. That corrosion in the crack will cause all billy hell to weld, if it goes deep enough pretty soon there is no material to work with.
As it is it will sit there and work for years unless yo jump the truck.
Remember, there is no torque there ,mainly compression load.

Look for a crack here too, it's a very common area to crack, I've heard 460 guys breaking the ears off easily too, just not enough meat there.
