tonight on log truck..........it's the final installation of the FMIC.;Sweet

so the pressure chamber gets tapped and the boost fitting inserted.
then it's set onto the intake, after tipping the compressor upwards to clear.

next i held the pipes up and marked them with a straight edge, took them up to the local welding shop, and when complete simply installed them for the final results.

sounds easy anyway right lol? it's because it is actually.i tossed it together today after work.so i'v still got to mount up the trans cooler and then turn up the fuel in the ip again (max it out now) but...... log truck is now intercooled.;Really

until the next episode,i hope you enjoyed this one here on channel 444.;Sweet

i don't know yet.i went to tag it today but i had forgotten, all i did was get the commercial insurance quote, but i didn't call and active it yet.duh! so i'v got to do that first, then i can tag it.then lastly,i can run her in for her first yearly safety inspection.....then she'll be on the road...........long story short.she should be all set to go (road legal) by the end of the week.:)

log truck is on the road today.commercially insured, inspected and tagged for 23k combined.all set to put her into service.;Sweet

Hows it run?

the idle is a bit choppy and she puffs a little black when you stab the throttle but clears up quick.it's likely she needs a set of new G codes like i gave chip.as is however, she's not far behind chip truck right now as far as performance goes.
iv yet to time the truck, but she's a bit more rattle than chip.i suspect 8-9BTDC.i'll bump it back to 7BTDC like chip as that's where i know turbo spool is super crisp and she pulls a heavy load a lot easier than with more advance too.
but i think im just gunna run a tank of fuel through it first to see how it does.i poured in some atf so perhaps that will clean up the injectors and she might do just fine.
it's clearly got some nuts though.she doesn't fall off speed real quick on the hills like when i drove it home as n/a.she's got it where it counts even without being completely dialed in yet.
i suspect she's going to work great with a sidewinder,maxed ip,intercooler and 5.13's.;Really

now if only she had a front axle,t-case and a gear vendors.:D (while maintaining an e-brake to pass inspections.)
im going to have to be so careful with this beast.she gets stuck just looking at mud in the yard lmao.

log truck is back.in this episode,it's time to get this clean 2wd painted up so she remains clean.so it all began with pressure washing off all the loose dirt, followed by a soaking of por-15's marine clean (cleaner degreaser) followed by a rinse and then a soaking of metal prep (prep and ready) then after 15 mins, another rinse then finally a coat of primer over any rusted surfaces once it was dry.

stay tuned as log trucks' underbelly gets a few coats of black valspar tractor & implement enamel.;Sweet

my very own hell
All this power, and still not enough traction... You got her stuck just looking at wet grass yet? LOL

Btw those drop towers for the bottom of the lift cylinders look kinda sketchy, may wanna take it to the local welding shop and have them take a look at them and recommend some improvements. At the very least run a few bolts thru their plates and into the frame rails... Has the frame on this thing been stretched?

You are putting good amount of work in her tho, hope she pays it off quick.

i know it.im still a bit skeptical as to how (or if) a 2wd is going to be (dang that e-brake dilemma for a clean, safe 4wd convert.)

they don't look the best up towards the top either.i'll have both ends beefed up a bit,and the local welding shop also needs to rig me up a safety arm i can swing down while working on the underside.

yes.this was the 161" WB that has been extended out to 197" WB.she sure doesn't turn on a dime lol.:rotflmao

Wow looks good glad you have it up and running thanks for updates.

I'd suggest a locker in the rear and get two times the traction then. Long enough wheel base it won't be noticed corning too much and much better traction.

Keep us updated.

Al
