Which serp belt tensioner?

My 92's belt tensioner was the one with the shock absorber on it. It was sticking so I took the one off my parts truck without the shock on it... It sticks also, the belt squeaks pretty bad. Rockauto has the one with the shock for $120 and one without for around 60. Should I spend the extra for the motor craft with the shock or go with the Goodyear without?

I had to look it up for a 94, under 92 the only one they show is the one with exposed spring. I ordered that one and it does not fit.

The one with the shock is the "better" tensioner. I swapped out my regular spring tensioner for the one with the shock and threw the old one behind the back seat for a spare. I believe the shock tensioner was the "latest and greatest" design Ford came up with to keep the serp belt on the straight and narrow.

I just found this tensioner and several more on ebay. Sure a lot cheaper than what you posted. The shock absorber type is the better kind to have. Might want to replace the belt and the idler too or at least check them closely for wear.
