also does anyone run a straight through muffler on a NA diesel? too loud? im looking for a huge muffler from a medium duty. (4" in/out 30-40" long) i want performance without being real loud

was it loud? i figure the turbo trucks had a smaller muffler. i really dont want a loud system. im thinking of having my exhaust guy make me a full new exhaust. new y-pipe is needed for sure... dual 2" into 2.5".. AHH!

No chance for a restrictive 'y' then.

making a y-pipe that will perform isnt hard. or expensive. im trying to be cheap. been dumpster diving at local exhaust shops. also trying to find a LONG 4" straight through muffler that may come from a medium duty truck

There's no reason not to true dual.. There is no turbo, diesels dont rely on scavenging like gassers, easier instal, more flow. Take a listen to a few true dual idi's on youtube.

yes there is. it sounds like crap.. unless you ad a H-pipe. sounds like a gasser and is more expensive unless i do some short pipes exiting in front of the rear tires

Sorry long nap, no it was quite and got lots of complements on it. I had an adaptor right after the y. To make it even better I would run a 3" y-pipe to the exhaust.

I have had duals and I agree. 2.25 glassed packed. I have had factory 2.5 straight pipe,3" after the factory y-pipe( not a bad sound) and final stuck with the powerstroke exhaust

Sweet! Im getting spoiled with this truck. Its so quiet and with the 3.55s I don't rev it much. I think ill find a stock cat back exhaust for a obs truck and have my favorite exhaust shop make a quality y-pipe. Maybe add in a small straight through muffler where the cat would be.
