Yes, I will be using a 5" cowl hood. The compressor housing sticks up about 2" or so above the stock hoodline.
As for the turbo lag, I expect I'll have to start spooling Friday evening for a Saturday afternoon sled pull...
But seriously, I sized the turbo for pulling, so driving it on the street (maxing out at around 2500 RPM) I expect the lag to be pretty bad. For a hook though (being in the 4000-5000 RPM range) It should spool *relatively* quickly.
The firewall did require a little "adjustment", but not much. One the passenger side, I removed the factory exhaust heat shield by drilling out the pop rivets used to attach it. After that I had to hammer back the 1" wide weld seam where the floorpan and firewall are joined right behind the starboard cylinder head so it was flat. The only real problem area is the driver's side up-pipe. The elbow at the back of the manifold protrudes to the point where there is about 2.5" of interference with the firewall area right in front of where the gas pedal is. This required cutting a 10" hole in the firewall to make it fit. This means fabricating a new section of firewall, but it's not as bad as it sounds. There's just no better way to do it. For the most part though, everything fit like a glove!
