I know its a bit early, but I dont have any truck projects going on at the moment so I thought it would be cool to start a convoy thread.
It's looking like KY is going to win the vote. If it does, what route is everyone going to take? When I attended the the 2006 rally in TN a few of us convoyed down together and I thought it was a lot of fun.

for me, it looks like I have 3 general possible routes.

click for 81 to 64

click for 68 to 64

click for 70 to 71 to 65

I only see about 40 minutes difference between them all for me, so all else being equal I wouldnt mind following some of you weirdos down there. LOL
I know its way early, but what's everyone thinking?

68 to 64 via 79 is probably the most direct route. It runs through my home town. Needless to say, it's hilly. If I remember right (and that's a real crap shoot) that stretch of 64 isn't terrible over by white sulfur springs. It's been a really long time since I've done that. I don't know much about the other route. I haven't traveled most of it. I don't know which end of the trip it will be yet but we will probably sweeping down south to spend a day or two in Nashville and then I would like to see my buddy in Kingsport.

If I do that, it will probably be on the return trip if I'm towing heavy.

It's all really up in the air but I'm down for a convoy one way or both. The 68-64 route is better going than coming seems like to me but could be my imagination.

It's killing me the trucks not done. Lots of really good camper deals right now.

Just because we convoy doesn't necessarily mean we have to travel the same pace. To me having people on the same route at about the same time is as valuable or more so than a nose to tail convoy.

I would be interested in riding down as a group. Hopefully I will have an overdrive by then. When we did the museum Rob had me pegged on the governor a couple times up the highway lol.

LOL I actually caught myself doing that, looked down at the speedo and said, oh that's right! Jared is without overdrive! and backed off. I'm really hoping to be towing a tiny camper down this time, we will see. But if so, I wont be ******* anyone's governor that's for sure.

Cool, so if you did I-80W and I-71S and I did 70 to 71 to 65 we could potentially meet up around Columbus? Am I seeing that right?

I just hope it's not 95 degrees or something on launch day. I'm all for whatever and I wouldn't mind running a convoy down should one of us have any engine issues, I just get extra nervous on long drives when it's hot out. I can abuse the thing in the heat blasting the ac around home and it's no different but that being 300+ miles from home feeling just makes you antsy. Stare at your water temp gauge on the highway antsy.
