So, I'm driving down the road with Nick load it anything, just normal commuting, with some decent hills. I was going to rescue wife because the kids had locked the doors with her keys inside, no less.
Anyways, as I was driving the engine acts like it cuts off but the only instrument that cut off was the RPMs, the other gauges didn't drop off and the radio kept playing.
The first two times it "shutdown" for a few seconds, probably 5 seconds.
The next two times it just happened really quick, off-on the off-on, running normal.
This all happened within 14 miles.
I am guessing it's a fuel or electrical problem. I have had issues with a loose battery wire lately but I didn't loose power altogether and the battery gauge didn't drop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot afford my truck to be down, and I do not have nor do I have access to a proper scanner.

Easy fix. Throw in a new cps. Grab two so you can throw one in the glovebox. Only need a 12mm wrench or small ratchet, iirc.

My local O'Reilly had the Motarcraft for $30, which is collective with the web without the shipping. Unfortunately it won't be in until tomorrow. Still, I got the off-brand in case I end up dead on the road on the way home.

Many believe the Motorcraft is outsourced now.
A lot are doing good with the one from advanced auto.

I haven't played with it much though.
Just check to see if it still runs with the wipers on. Lol

Yep, heard that with some of the aftermarket ones.
Back in the day the dp tuner would cause interference and do the same thing.
Along with hid headlights.
Some have corrected it with electronic chokes installed on the wires of the cps and wiper motor though. The reason they go through the trouble is sometimes the aftermarket ones actually make the truck run better.
There's actually a procedure and tool for setting the gap between the cps and gear. Some pretty in depth stuff, but most people don't need to dig in that deep. Those are just the high hp guys.

Running a separate ground to the wiper motor has helped some.

The gap (depth) setting is for all T444E PSD engines. Most people myself included just stuff a new sensor in the hole and call it good.:D

I have the store brand with me in case it's needed. I'm going to try and wait on the Motarcraft.

Yep, exactly.
But some have experimented with the gap on the pickups and made good differences. Found some cps sit too close, some are too far away.

Is the gap what causes the problems with the off brand? I know almost everyone swears you need to get the Motarcraft CPS. Kind of like the glow plugs on an IDI.

There's that, but also the location of the pickup. Even on some of the Motorcraft ones it's off centered.

Dropped in the Motorcraft CPS and on my 17 mile journey home the truck ran smooth. It actually seemed smoother then before, but I could be making that up.
Thanks guys.
