without tearing the truck apart,
is there a way to determine if my truck has the GEM or the VSM?
maybe a site on the net where i can enter my VIN?
thanks!

If the fuse box is taller than wide, it has a GEM. If it is wider than tall, is has a VSM.
Found on the net, so take it for what it's worth. Lol

What codes are you getting? I can send you my AE and a disk for your computer, you can suck any code out even from the IDM.

Pull the damn kick panel off and check that ground wire.

Gem modules have to be re-programmed to the specific vehicle. A new one is around $350. I've seen some on ebay rebuilt, some say they are programmed. Dealers around here charge $100 to program them.
Damn Ford truck windshields leak, water runs right down into the Gem, plugin connectors get corroded.

with my PSD endeavors, i have learned to not F with it until i get data to back up my assumption.

stoped by a buddys shop today, he has the new matco scanner with wifi receiver!

sure as ****, it pulled the GEM module up and found it faulty.

so now this can be diagnosed with a scanner, just not mine.

gotta call the Ferd dealer.
