I have 06 duramax LBZ. When towing 9000 lb camper, truck will start overheating and when I back off it will go to limp-in mode. Thinking fuel filter, I remove it and find it half empty. Replace filter and it will run for 30 - 60 miles and do it again. I've had cooling system replaced (that's right, everything. $3400), had injection system checked, and engine vacuum checked. Still does it. I've been reading about cracked filter housings. Could that be it? I'm at a loss. planing another trip in 2 weeks a am dreading it. Truck has 160,000 miles. Thanks for any advice

I would go with a better electric lift pump.
Where and how was the injection system checked?

You are right. I finally found the right mechanic. These trucks have rubber hoses for fuel lines. As the truck ages, the lines will collapse due to the suction. I will mount an Air
Dog type pump back by the tank.

Yeah. I'm very confident problem solved. The guy says he does two or three Duramax's a week. I wish everyone knew about this problem. I spent lots of money needlessly and had lots of aggravation every time I towed. Thanks again
