Air Filter Modification and battery light

I plan to modifiy the air filter to the BHAF , doing some searches, I found that most, remove the orgional filter holder, adapt the BHAF and just set it in place. Opinions? Also, I drove almost 200 miles round trip yesterday to pick up a load of hay. This morning my battery light was on and stayed on for a bit , battery gage showed charging. Thinking I need to keep a close eye on my alternator?

I saw a mod using a piece of pvc pipe to connect the filter to existing hose, is there a better way? I assume the pvc way is less expensive.

Search diy tymar type intake.this setup was extensively tested and proven to flow more and filter better than any other filter kit on the market.itll cost about 100 bux for everything needed.

On the alternator there is a tiny plug with a single wire.unplug it and see if its dirty,corroded or loose.if loose bend the metal connector inside the plug so it makes a good tight connection.this is usualy the reason for the battery light coming on even though the gauge says its charging.

Thanks! I plan to do this over the weekend, and yes my alternator croaked, got it replaced, waiting for the next issue to crop up. Hoping I can find and easily fix the vaccuum leak on our 98 explorer before something else happens
