911 DIESEL DOWN

My son-in-law is in Ft.Stockton, TX at a job site (250 miles from home in Clyde, TX); he towed his 5th wheel there with his Dodge 3500 SLT 5.9 liter dually a couple of months ago to work.
He checked oil last week, oil line in the hash marks.
This morning, at 60mph engine started knocking on 1-20. (Not towing the 5th wheel at the time).
Pulled over right away and checked oil, at the bottom.
Not blowing oil, possible leak at oil pan but appears dirty and somewhat dry.
Topped it off with oil, noise was reduced but is still present.
Did not drive it any further. Towed it to the job site in Fort Stockton.
The engine has 264,000miles on it.
My guess is that the engine is shot, but holding out hope. At the very least, he has to get the 5th wheel home sometime in the next couple of months or sooner and he has nothing to drive right now. He did front and rear seals, clutch and rear transmission seal last summer.
Need a heavy-line diesel-man in Fort Stockton, Odessa even Midland. Know anyone?

Son-in-law is Derek Floyd 325-864-2531. Appreciate any/all assistance/information.

Thanks guys,
Priscilla

Ya might want to post your 911 in this forum, " 5.9L 3rd Gen Cummins " Sorry I can't help, but someone in that forum might be able to.
