Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out what tranny oil cooler I want but I'm running into more confusion than fact. Transmission is an E4OD I'll be pulling a 5th wheel weighing around 13k loaded. When researching for the coolers I'm finding Tube and Fin, Plate and Fin, and Stacked. Fancy words like Rapid cool or turbulators. In my mind I think the larger the better http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/HDN1/405/N0940.oap?ck=Search_transmission+coolers+%26+accessories_1124840_2837&keyword=transmission+coolers+%26+accessories but different web sites show this http://derale.com/products/coolers/transmission/series-9000-plate-fin/190f-fan-switch-thermostat-detail Is it all sales hype or is there some truth behind it? One more thing, I am finding that I go to different web sites and the same part number will have different ratings, Ex. Med. Duty-Heavy Duty what ever that means.

I have a Tru-Cool Max 4739. Many others here have a transmission cooler taken from a Ford 6.0 diesel truck. Both seem about equally good.

You can see the Tru-Cool HERE. If you decide on this one, though, shop around a bit. I'm pretty sure you can beat that price.

I did the 6.0 cooler for,my 4r100. Dropped the temps and was cheaper than buying new. It bottled right up which was another bonus, no need to fab brackets up. I would recommend doing a complete flush while your at it and think about a shift kit if you don't have one already. Anything to keep the heat down will help prolong the life of the trans.
